Bill Nelson SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (June 26) - A hot and humid day with overcast skies greeted the fans and drivers at the speedway today. The race was on not only on the track but also to get the show in before the storms hit. Races were completed at 9 and by 10 the campground gathered in the storm shelter as Tornado Warnings sounded.
Nick Beyenhof jumped out front on the start of the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model feature event with Nick Herrick in second. Doug Herrick and Mike Prochnow raced for third early on with Joe Ludemann and Brad Waits side by side for fifth. With three down Doug Sat in third behind brother Nick. Five completed the Herrick's were side by side for second while Kyle Jumbeck was working on Waits for fifth. Ten down and Jumbeck sat in fifth and started to gain on Prochnow for fourth. A caution flew with sixteen down as Doug Herrick looped his machine. On the restart Beyenhof led with Prochnow moving into second. Jumbeck and Lance Matthees were side by side for third. Matthees took the spot on then pulled alongside of Prochnow for second. Another caution flew with nineteen down and on the restart Beyenhof lead with Matthees in second. Waits machine found a groove and worked past Jumbeck for fourth while Prochnow mount lost his groove and slid back through the field. moving Jumbeck and Waits into third and fourth with twenty down. With twenty one completed Matthees started working past Beyenhof for the lead and took it with three laps left. Waits moved into third with Jumbeck and Joe Ludemann in fifth as the checkers flew.

Mike Sorensen jumped out front for the EZ fabricating USRA modified feature with Tim Donlinger moving quickly into second. Todd Scharkey sat in third early with Nate Wasmund and AJ Wiste racing for fourth. Two laps in Donlinger moved to the point while Wasmund now challenged Scharkey for third. Ryan Gustin and Josh Angst raced with Wiste for fifth. Wiste held onto the fifth spot and with twelve completed Wasmund and Scharkey were still at it in a great battle for third. Donlinger hit lap traffic with fourteen completed. Wasmund cleared Scharkey with eighteen completed and started to pressure Sorensen as a caution flew for Donlinger as he slowed on the front stretch. On the restart Sorensen jumped into the lead with Gustin, Wasmund and Scharkey battling for the second spot. Scharkey kept second with Gustin in third. The final five laps the race for fourth was Jay Ihrke, Wiste and Wasmund as the diced it up to the checkers. At the finish it was Sorensen, Scharkey, Gustin, Ihrke and Wasmund in the top five.
Harlan Morehart led early in the US ARMY WISSOTA Super Stock division. Ryan Siegle and Dave Solum raced for second early on. With two down Siegle and Morehart were now side by side for the lead with Siegle taking the spot. With three completed Jeff Brauer worked below Solum and Morehart to take over second. With four completed the field started to settle down with Gary Wiersgalla in third and Cole Queensland and Solum racing for fourth. With seven completed Brauer was slowly pulling alongside of Siegle up front while Queensland and Wiersgalla raced for third. Brauer worked the low side of the speedway while Siegle raced up top. Brauer slowly worked around Siegle and took the lead with a handful of laps left while Queensland slowly gained on Siegle in second. with two to go Queensland and Siegel were side by side for second but tonight Siegle was stronger holding onto the spot as the checkers waved.
The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified Feature was a good one again with Leigh Volkman and Shaun Walski racing for the lead early on. Walski took control of the race while Mike Paulson slid up in front of Volkman for second. On lap three Brandon Davis moved past Walski and started battling with Paulson for second. Mike Hernke sat in fourth. Davis took second while Dustin Scott moved up to race Volkman for fifth. Hernke continued to pressure Paulson for third while Scott had Bryan Hernandez all over his bumper. A caution flew with nine down which hurt Walski who while running up front suffered a flat left front tire which he could still race on until the caution flew with the track rule stating the car must pit. On the restart Davis took over the lead with Hernandez shooting below the battle for second stealing the spot for himself leaving Scott and Hernke to decide third. With eight laps left Hernandez was gaining on Davis up front and moved alongside on lap twelve. Lap thirteen Hernandez was credited with the lead. Jerry Young worked into the top five with fourteen to go. Up front Davis changed his line and started to gain on Hernandez again but was unable to mount any pressure as the checkers flew.
The BP WISSOTA Street Stock feature saw Karl Hewitt Jr. take the early lead with Ryan Goergen in second pressuring him hard. Goergen took the lead on lap two with Troy Voth moving into second. Mike Blowers also moved past Hewitt Jr. to take over third. A restart with four down bunched the field back up with Danny Hanson, Voth and Goergen racing for the lead. Voth took the point with Hanson in second Goergen and Blowers raced for third at this time. Another caution flew for Voth as he slowed with a flat handing the lead to Hanson. On the restart Hanson pulled away into the lead with Blowers in second. AJ Zvorak and Hewitt Jr. were racing for third. Zvorak would take over third with Dan Holland in fourth. As the final laps completed Voth worked back into the fifth spot after his caution just past the halfway point. Hanson continued to lead to the finish.
Jared Boumeester led the Hinz Trucking USRA B-Modified feature with Nate Chodur in second. Dan Tenold sat in third pressuring Chodur for the second spot. A lap four restart took three tries before it finally got going with Boumeester up front. Chodur and Tenold were still racing for second with Darrin Korthals behind them. Korthals moved into second on lap five as Brandon Hare worked into the top five. On lap seven Hare worked under Chodur for fourth and then Tenold for third. With nine down Korthals took the led only to have a caution fly. ON the restart Hare took over the lead on the low side of the speedway with Korthals moving past Boumeester for second. hare cruised home with the win ahead of Korthals.
Early in the day the Truck Country Slingshots took to the track with Lexi Schott leading the Junior division early. Derek Clement and Bailey Karau were side by side for second. Clement took over second while Dustin Sorensen and Jerome Kellner raced for fifth. Sorensen took over fifth and started to pressure Ryan Wetzstein for fourth. With ten completed a caution flew with Schott leading Clement in second and Karau in third. Wetzstein pressured Karau for third but lost the handle on his machine moving Sorensen into fourth. As the field came to the checkers Clement got a good run out of four to get alongside of Schott but Schott was too strong and took home the win.
Jackson Hale started out front in the Pee-Wee division and stayed there for the full race. Jim Chisholm sat in second with Garrett Koster in third. The racing for fourth between Keagan Einck and Spencer Ihrke was strong early on. Einck and Ihrke ran nose to tail land side by side early on with Einck finally taking control of the spot at the halfway point. Hale cruised home with the win, Chisholm close behind in second with Koster soundly in third. Lexi Schott led the senior division out of turn two with Derek Clement, Jerome Kellner and Jeremy Paulson three wide for second. It worked for two corners but on lap two the three wide battle failed as the caution flew. With Schott up front Kellner moved into second. Clement was looking to his inside while Paulson tried to get around Clement. Clement cleared Kellner while Dustin Sorensen moved past Paulson for third. Schott continued strong up front taking home the win with Clement and Sorensen in second and third.
