DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 25) - On a night with six classes, and two make up features, first time winners for 2010 were the norm at Lee County Speedway.

In all eight features were run during the evening, with seven drivers getting their first victory of 2010 at Lee County Speedway.

Dean Kratzer, Hobby Stock, and Bryan Rodefer, Wild Things, won the two make up features, from June 18, at were both first time winners in 2010. The theme remained the same in the regularly scheduled features.

Mitch Higdon, Sport Mods; Alex Buffington, Hobby Stocks; Justin Reed, Late Models; Nathan Wood, Stock Cars and Wayne Noble, Wild Things, all got the their first wins at Lee County as well.

Josh Foster was the only driver to ruin the evening, sort of speak, as he picked up another Modified feature win.

In the make up feature for the Wild Things Rodefer dominated quickly getting to the front and then holding on for the easy win. Gabe Harrison was second and Bill Michel was third.

Kratzer, who is now splitting time between is Sport Mod and Hobby Stock, was very fast in his Hobby Stock on this night, as he came through the field to take a convincing feature win. Dane Fenton ran a strong second, followed by Jeremy Pundt.

In the Sport Mods feature event, Higdon started on the pole and led every lap, running a nearly flawless race to get the win. Joe Bliven chased him for much of the event in second, but couldn't catch the race winner. Phillip Cossel rounded out the top three.

Reed, who has been coming on of late in the IMCA Late Model division, was the fastest car on the track, and left no doubt when he went from his eighth starting spot to get the win. He road the high side when most were on the bottom and flew by the rest of field, using a late race caution to bring then leader Tom Goble back to him, with six laps to go. Reed passed Goble on lap 21 and never looked back. Goble held on for second, while Robbie Warner was third and Keith Pratt fourth. Tony Fraise rounded out the top five.

In the Stock Car feature, Wood started out front and ran away to the win, in an event that saw Jeff Mueller get to second, but Wood was already to far gone to ever be threatened. Derek St. Clair got his first podium finish in a Stock Car, as he rounded out the top three.

In what has become old hat for the Montrose Missile, Foster came from outside row four to get the feature win. Michael Long had a couple chance at Foster, with a re-start running second, but could do nothing with the eventual race winner. Brandon Rothzen finished in the third spot.

Buffington, who had mechanical problems in the earlier make-up feature, started outside the front row and dominated the second Hobby Stocks feature of the night. Matt Tucker, who started on the pole inside Buffington, ran second, while Tanner Thomann had another good run to finish in the third spot.

Noble started outside row four, as well, and drove his Wild Thing to a feature win, passing Tod Cloke late in the race for the win. Harrison would pick up another second place finish, while Kimberly Abbott would pick up her best feature finish of the year in third.

Racing action takes a double dip this week at Lee County Speedway, with the Liberty Cup, Thursday, July 1, with the Hawkeye Dirt Tour IMCA Modifies racing for $1,000 to win. Also on the car are the IMCA Stock Cars completing the last leg of a four day swing through Iowa with all four shows paying $1,000 to win. Hobby Stocks will also be running for $500 to win. Kids don't forget we will also be having boxcar races during intermission. So make a boxcar and bring it with you to race. For more information check out the Lee County website www.leecountyspeedway.com.

Then the action takes off again, Friday, July 2, with the Trump Truck/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Model Driver for Five series, as well as the 305 Sprint Cars. Sport Mods and Wild Things will also be on the card for Friday's festivities.
