QUINCY, Ill. (June 20) - Denny Woodworth, Michael Long, Kevin Tomlinson and Bobby Anders all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, June 20 during Gem City Ford & Ursa Farmers Cooperative Night at the Races. The weather somewhat cooperated giving the rain plagued Quincy "Bull Ring" the opportunity to get in just the sixth night of racing action in twelve scheduled events.

Denny Woodworth charged through the field from his sixth row starting spot to overtake early leader Dustin Neese on the seventeenth lap of the 30 lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model Feature event. Woodworth kept Neese at bay over the next eight circuits but Mark Burgtorf came had blasted through the field from the tail end starting spot and began to challenge Woodworth over the final five laps. Woodworth drove to perfection to hold off Burgtorf for the win with Billy Genenbacher in third, Jason Perry in fourth and Justin Reed in fifth. Lonnie Bailey and Vance Wilson grabbed the heat race wins while Robby Warner took the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Michael Long took home his forth feature event win of the season in the Miller Lite UMP Modified division Sunday night. Rusty Griffaw took the lead of the twenty five lap main event at the drop of the green flag and held on to it through a series of early caution flags but Long came charging by Griffaw on the fifth lap to take the lead. Long held on for the top spot the rest of the way to the checkered flag but a great race was evolving behind him for top five spots. Jared Schlipman, Griffaw, Steven DeLonjay, David Wietholder and James Lefffew fought tooth and nail through the final laps with Griffaw grabbing second, DeLonjay third, Schlipman fourth and Leffew fifth. Griffaw, Schlipman and Steve Grotz were the heat race winners while Long took the win in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash.

Kevin Tomlinson looked like he might just have an easy time in the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car main event but a driving mistake in turn four on the fourth lap gave Abe Huls the chance he needed to get into the lead. Huls then held Tomlinson at bay until Tomlinson made good use of Huls slip on the the eleventh lap. Tomlinson grabbed the lead at that point and held Huls at bay until the checkered flag fell on the twentieth lap. Third went to Steve Steinkuhler, fourth to Terry Houston, and fifth to Jerry Jansen. Tomlinson made it a clean sweep by taking the heat race win.

The ultra competitive Tim's Machine Shop Hobby Stock main event saw Bobby Anders take his fourth feature win of the season. Anders held off Steve Carlin in second, Jim Powell in third, Adam Scott in fourth and Nathan Anders in fifth. Mike Wiley and Justin Bartz were the heat race winners.
Coming up next at Quincy Raceways will be the third annual Little Jess Jeep Tri-State IMCA Stock Car Shootout paying $1000 to the winner and $175 to just start the main event. Last year, drivers from seven states battled for the big money for the IMCA Stock Cars but Quincy Raceways regular, Aaron Brocksieck took home the big check after a race long battle for the top spot. This special event will have the regular race night admission prices of $10 for Adults, $7 for Seniors, $5 for Students (11-15), Kids 10 and under are free and Pit Passes are $22. The Budweiser IMCA Late Models, Miller LIte UMP Modifieds and the Tim's Machine Shop Hobby Stocks are also on the racing card.
