MANITOWOC, Wisc. (June 18) - With a night of racing being presented by Akright Auto presented those present with some fantastic racing. With Minster Racing hosting a coin and candy drop for the youngsters and Airgas as a trophy sponsor, the evening was opened by honoring our nation as the cars Travis Luedtke, Craig Schueffner, Brett Wenzel, and Adam Krepline each carried the American Flag during a pace lap.
The familiar blue 74 late model was on the pole, with Bob Cullen (Chilton) substituting for Russ, with Dan Sorce (Franklin) on the outside for the Late Model A Main presented by Budweiser. The racing was relatively incident free with some fantastic racing mid pack at the mid point with Cullen leading followed closely by Gordie Seegert Jr. (Oostburg), Sorce, Chris Carlson (North Cape), Brian Goetsch (Sheboygan), Nick Anvelink, and Rick Scheffler (Waukesha). Caution flew on lap 19 as Eric Michaels (Cleveland) stalled on the backstretch. Cullen led the field to the restart, followed by Seegert Jr., Sorce, and Anvelink. Following some fantastic moves in the last several laps, including a pass on the outside with 2 to go, Nick Anvelink took the checkered first, quickly followed to the line by Cullen, Seegert Jr., Scheffler, Sorce, Carlson, Craig Schueffner (Sheb. Falls), Randy Markwardt (Sheboygan), and Ron Stroika (Mukwonago) rounding out the top 10.
