BARDSTOWN, Ky. (June 5) - Bluegrass Speedway would present the 7th Annual Shorty Gardner Memorial for the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman on Saturday evening and Robbie Settles of New Hope, KY would claim his first win in this event. Other feature event winners included Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY, who claimed his 30th career Bluegrass Speedway Super Late Model victory, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in UMP Modifieds, and Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in UMP Street Stocks.

The 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model main event would see Tim Tungate jump to the race lead at the drop of the green flag and Tungate would never be headed in pulling away to a half-lap lead by the end of the 12.5 mile sprint that would go caution free. Tungate's victory was his 30th career victory at Bluegrass Speedway and would come in the seat of the J&L Motorsports owned Campbellsville University/Rick-Rod Oil Company/Barnes Auto Sales/Wilson Plumbing/Victor E. Clothing/Oil Country Auto Sales/Rodger's Recycling/L&R Dozer Service/Arizona Sport Shirts/Puff-N-Chew Tobacco/Dale Petty Well Service sponsored #18 C.J. Rayburn Race Car, Dan Sturgeon Race Engines powered machine. Lee Devasier would claim runner-up honors, with Johnny Wheeler claiming third for the second straight week, while Rob Starkey and Wesley Brummett completed the top five. Jeff Watson would be the top qualifier at 15.901 seconds, while Devasier won the heat.

The 20 lap, $500 to win WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman 7th Annual Shorty Gardner Memorial would see Avral Thompson take the initial race lead, followed by Billy Meredith, Robbie Settles, Barry Chesser, and Sam Mull. Sam Huffer would take fifth from Mull on lap 2, while Meredith dogged Thompson for the race lead. Problems would strike Meredith on lap 6 when he would spin his machine exiting turn two with a flat left rear tire. The restart would see Thompson now challenged by Settles for the lead, with Barry Chesser also joining the fray as the halfway signal was displayed on lap 10. Meredith would return to action several laps down on lap 13, while Settles continued to challenge Thompson for the top spot. Business would pick up on lap 17 as Chesser looked beneath both Thompson and Settles for the lead down the backchute, resulting in a three-wide battle for the lead that saw Settles come out of the middle with the lead on lap 18, with Chesser now in second. Settles would hold off Chesser to claim the victory in the Trey Settles owned First South Credit/Toddy's Liquors/Ice's Produce/BDM Collison Center/Wooden Duck Entertainment/Hillyard's/B&B Motorsports/ Mattingly's Transmissions sponsored #58 Chevy Monte Carlo, Dale Meers Race Engines powered mount. Chesser and Thompson would go second and third, with Huffer and Mull completing the top five. Meredith would be the top qualifier at 18.899 seconds and would also win the heat.

The UMP Modified feature event would see Jason Wheatley secure the top spot on lap 2 and never look back in driving to his first Bluegrass Speedway win of '10 in the Kaylee and Tommy Wheatley owned VFM Manufacturing/St. Joe Garage/Mark Martin Chevrolet/Wheatley Tile Flooring/Wheatley Seamless Gutters/Wheatley Auto Sales/ Gootee and Mattingly Heating and Cooling/Rosewood Golf Course/Central Kentucky Electrical and Plumbing/Brady Excavating/Cozy Corner/Springfield Auto and Farm sponsored #7 Larry Shaw Race Car by Landers, Mullins Race Engines powered mount. Polesitter and 8th place starting Josh Lucas would duel throughout the 10 mile sprint, with England coming away with second, followed by Lucas in third. Dion Benningfield and Randy Turpin would trade the fourth spot on several occasions, before Benningfield would claim the spot, with Turpin taking fifth. The remainder of the top ten would be Doodle Farris, Miguel Coffey, Joe Mattingly, Adam Cole, and Leo Brady. Fifteen entries would see heat wins fall to Wheatley and England.

The 12 lap UMP Street Stock feature race would again be the Glazer and Lafollette matinee as it has been all season long, with Glazer coming out on top in this edition of the Street Stock feature in his Cecil Transmissions/Sam Murphy Race Engines/Tech One sponsored #93 Chevy Monte Carlo. Lafollette would see for second place honors, followed by first time visitor Curtis Porter, Bobby Settles, and Brian Derringer. The heat would go to Lafollette.
