Lee County Speedway
DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 4) - It was there, teasing all night long. You could see it coming. Some went by and in the end some the big one didn't.

Just as Jeff Guengerich took his first checkered flag at the wheel of the Richard Reality and Auction #15, the storms that had been so close were finally there. The skies opened up and brought racing action at Lee County Speedway to a close Friday night.

In the Trump Trucks/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Model feature, Guengerich was the fast car in the field, has he moved forward and was their to take the lead and the runaway win, after early race leader Gary Russell came on miss fortune. Following a re-start, Russell hit a rut in turn three and pushed up the track, losing five spots.

Guengerich was there to take advantage and was never challenged the rest of the way in the win.

Tom Goble took second, Tony Fraise was third, and Colby Springsteen finished fourth. TJ Criss rounded out the top five.

Along with Guengerich, Jake Wenig and AJ Johnson got feature wins, while the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Feinberg Metal Recycling Wild Things and Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars will run double features to make up their rained out events.

In all three points paying Donnellson Hobby Stock features this year, a Wenig has started on the pole, and in all three cases that Wenig has won. This time it was Jake Wenig, who had been scheduled to start inside row two, but when Travis Hartman left the race, he moved to the pole. From there, Wenig ran away and hid from there picking up the easy win though Tanner Thomann was close enough to make it interesting at times before finishing second. Rob Wilsey ran a strong third, Dane Fenton was fourth and Victor Hastings rounded out the top five.

Johnson, the youngster from Oskaloosa who has chose to run weekly at Lee County Speedway in 2010, has proven to be very fast early this season, as he dominated the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA Sport Mods feature. He took the lead near the midway point and never looked back, while a solid battle waged behind him.

Dean Kratzer had his best run of the year, finishing second, while Jim Gillenwater made a strong run to third. Rick Barlow, Jr., finished fourth, while Rich Uppinghouse rounded out the top five.

Two nights of racing await the 3/8th mile Lee County Speedway, as the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders make their first appearance of the 2010 season, Wednesday, for Budweiser Night. Also racing will be IMCA Modifieds and Hobby Stocks. Pit gate opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps at 7 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.

Racing then returns Friday night for another weekly points racing night with Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, Sport Mods and Wild Things on the card.
