Steve Hixson CLEVELAND, Tenn. (May 29) - Rockwood, TN's Mike Hill swept the events Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway to become the 8th different Super Late Model winner of 9 events so far in 2010. The # 11 "Glenn's Auto Parts, Jerr-Dan, PPM Racing Products, Shy Racing Suspension" sponsored Race Engine Design powered / GRT racer set fast time clocking a 14:202 and won his heat race to start on the pole of the 30 lap $1,200 to-WIN "A" Main feature. Second quick Todd Morrow followed Hill for the entire race after a barrage of cautions plagued the start forcing flagman Monty Morrow to single file the field after an altercation amoung the front row starters. The X-MAN Shawn Chastain finished third, which his his second consecutive strong showing after a Top 10 during last weekends S.A.S race. Other MURPHY MAFIA regulars Gabe Wilson and THE HITMAN Johnny Chastain rounded out the Top 5 finishers of the 14 car field.
The BRIAN & BRIAN show squared off again in the LLM/Crate division. Last weeks winner THE B-MAN Brian Jackson led early in the 20 lapper, but it would be THE BIG RED MACHINE and pilot Brian Pritchard taking their 4th win of 2010. Bobby Mayse would dice it up with the leaders early but would settle for third, just ahead of Tanner Works and Bobby Doss. In the A-Hobby Robbie Greene held off young Dustin Cansler for the win in the 20 lap feature. John Clark, Mitch Brady Jr. and Richard Dixon rounded out the Top 5. The HEAVY METAL MONSTERS of the MIDWAY, the B-Hobby's slamdanced around the track for 20 laps with Hughes battling Hughes. In the end it was Eric Hughes holding off Jason Brown for the win. Loomis Smith was third with Tyler Adams and Adam Earwood following. DOWNTOWN Jimmy Brown won the Pony feature, while Tom Gilbert claimed the 12 lap FWD finale feature. Next Saturday night the LLM/Crate MiD Season Championship is on tap at Cleveland Speedway.
