COAL GROVE, Ohio (May 28) - After two straight weeks of rainouts, the Rocky Top Raceway finally received a sunny Friday on May 28th for "High School Night" and the "Tri-State Challenge". A total of 74 cars from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Indiana were in attendance.

Before the nights regular racing program got underway, the rained out final 25 laps of the Les Boggs 30 AMRA Modified A-Main and the Bomber A-Main from May 7th were ran. West Portsmouth's Doug Adkins dominated the caution free AMRA Modified A-Main to take the $1,000 prize over Todd Robinson in second, Craig Christian third, Tony Dehart fourth, and Vince Conrad fifth. Jamie Adams won the make-up Bomber A-Main over Bruce Gray Jr., Robert Walker, Kenny Neal, and Dwayne Anderson.

In the nights 25 lap Late Model A-Main, Jackson, Ohio driver Greggie Oliver took the lead at the start while Jackie Boggs passed Jason Perry to move into the second position. Oliver maintained about a seven car length lead over Boggs until the races first caution flew on lap 11. On the restart, the two went side by side for the lead through turns one and two and made contact off of two and down the backstretch! The two ran side by side down the backstretch and into turn three with Oliver maintaining the lead.

Boggs then tried every groove on the track to try to get back up to Oliver, but couldn't close in. On the last lap, with the race well in hand for Oliver, a caution flag flew for a crash in turn three, setting up a green-white-checkered restart. On the restart, Boggs went high into one as the two battled side by side! Boggs could not hold his run off of two though as Greggie Oliver went on to lead the final two laps and claim his first career RTR feature win! Boggs finished second with Kevin Wagner third, Terry Hicks fourth, and Jason Perry fifth. Oliver won the dash race while Rod Evans and Shannon Thornsberry won heat races.

Adam Jordan led the field to start the 20 lap AMRA Modified A-Main. Jordan led the first five laps with Opening Night winner Vince Conrad in second. On a lap five restart, fourth place runner Doug Adkins put his car on the high side and had a tremendous run through turns one and two to battle side by side for the lead down the backstretch.

Adkins would take the lead off of turn four and checked out from there to claim his second feature win of the night! Adam Colley finished second with Vince Conrad third, Mike Wilson fourth, and Todd Robinson fifth. Jordan won the dash race while Eddie Harmon and Tony Dehart won heat races. Mike Matney won the B-Main.
Jamie Adams dominated the Bomber A-Main to claim his second feature win of the night. Bruce Gray Jr. finished second with Jim Helterbrand third, David Dunn fourth, and Robert Walker fifth. Adams and Gray won heat races.

Mark Noel took the lead to start the Mod Lite A-Main with fifth place starter Tony Sites moving into the second position right from the start. Sites ran right on Noel's bumper for several laps until lap ten when the two would go side by side for the lead. Coming off of turn two while battling side by side, the two made heavy contact with Noel spinning.

Noel would leave the track with extensive damage while Sites inherited the lead. Sites went on to lead the final five laps to take his second win of the season with Randy Armes in second, Shane Casto third, Chris Stone fourth, and Mark Sites fifth. Noel and Brock Morris won heat races.

In the 4 cylinder A-Main, Oak Hill, Ohio's Mike Strickland took the lead at the start and dominated to take his first career RTR feature win. Jerry Massie finished second with Dwayne Anderson third, Ronnie Massie fourth, and James Johnson fifth. Strickland and Rex Smith Jr. won heat races.
