FOUNTAIN CITY, Wisc. (May 28) - The WISSOTA Late Models returned to the Mississippi Thunder Speedway for the second time this season, and with that, Doug Herrick and Justin Sass led the 16-car field to the green flag. Sass shot to a strong lead over Herrick, Lance Matthees, and Dennis Hillson. Herrick made several attempts at the lead, but Sass proved to be too fast. Herrick was able to finally take over the lead from Sass with 19 laps to go. Matthees jumped on second place behind Herrick while Sass maintained third over Brad Waits. Sass and Waits ran side by side for third as Kyle Jumbeck worked on Jordan Yaggy for fifth place. Three-wide racing down the front stretch for fourth place ensued as Herrick was chased by Matthees. Waits made the pass on Sass for third and then got the spot from Matthees to trail leader Herrick. Waits then engaged in side by side racing with Herrick for the lead. Herrick was a rocket and could not be beat though. Matthees finished second followed by Waits, Kelly Anderson, and Chris Oertel.
