Penn Can Speedway
SUSQUEHANNA, Penn. (May 21) - On another beautiful night for racing a packed grandstand saw Brett Tonkin, of Carbondale hold off a fast charging Dan Vauter of Forest City to become the fifth different modified winner of the season at Penn Can Speedway. Tracy Gregory of Dalton repeated as the late model winner while Mike Nagel of Susquehanna won his second crate sportsman feature event. In street stock division Chris Strohl made a last lap pass to win for the first time in 2010 while Andy Brigham of New Milford repeated his win for last week in the four cylinder class.
Paul Rooney lead the late model feature to the green flag and took a brief lead only to be outraced into turn one on lap two by Ben Whitaker. Whitaker's time out front was short as he lost the handle and spun bringing out the first caution of the race. When the green came back out, Tracy Gregory took control and never looked back. Gregory had everything going his way until the two to go signal came out followed by the caution for a car spun in turn four. Gregory brought the field back to green and kept control with a strong running Adam Diaz on his bumper. Diaz tried to get by but Gregory was too strong and took another victory. Diaz had his best showing of the season finishing second. Steve Deinhardt, Alan Kellogg and Whitaker completed the top five.
