Dixie Speedway
WOODSTOCK, Ga. (May 15) - Lee Sutton of Taylorsville, Georgia broke the track record and went on to collect his first win of the season at Dixie Speedway.
Sutton's second lap of qualifying was the record breaking time of 13.806 (97.783mph). His response, "I didn't mean to do that, my gas got stuck!"
Sutton spun the invert wheel to determine his fourth place starting position in the feature.
With the green flag thrown to start the Super Late Model feature, Jeremy Ledford immediately took the lead. Sutton was able to make his way to the lead on lap nine. Sutton was challenged by David Payne of Murphy, NC but never gave up the lead. Payne and Ledford battled until lap twenty when Payne's wheel broke loose putting him out of the show. On the restart, Dale Thurman jumped into the second position and was able to hold on for the finish. Ledford settled for third. Jody Knowles finished fourth followed by Frank Ingram in fifth.
