SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (May 15) - Finally a nice Saturday night in Southern Minnesota for the fans and drivers at the speedway. The day also saw the opening of the reconfigured Button Buck Speedway earlier in the day. A small contingent of USMTS Modifieds were on hand to do battle with the regulars as they get ready for the upcoming Memorial Weekend swing.

Kelly Anderson jumped out front on the drop of the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model feature event with Keith Foss in second. Mike Prochnow was in third with Nick Herrick moving under him on lap two. The first caution flew and Anderson took off on the restart followed by Herrick. Joe Ludemann, Jerry Bloom were side by side for fourth. On lap six Lance Matthees moved under Ludemann for fourth and on the next lap worked below Prochnow for third. With nine down Matthees took over second while Anderson was cruising out front. Doug Herrick started working forward on lap nine he moved past Ludemann for fifth then Prochnow for fourth on lap ten and brother Nick on lap eleven for third. Kyle Jumbeck followed Doug through the field and sat in fourth on lap seventeen but up front it was all Anderson for his second win as he pulled out to a straightaway lead over Matthees.

Tim Donlinger jumped out front coming out of turn two to lead the EZ Fabricating USRA modifieds wire to wire. AJ Wiste was in second with Kelly Shryock moving into third. With four completed Shryock worked past Wiste to take over second. With five completed Jason Cummins, Jay Ihrke and Dan Bohr were three wide for fifth. Cummins took over the spot and on the next lap worked past Ryan Ruter for fourth. With eight completed Donlinger had pulled out to a straight away lead. behind the top three there was tons of racing going on with two and three side racing for position. Ten laps completed and Cummins worked under Wiste for the third spot while up front Donlinger continued to click off lapped cars eventually lapping up to the twelfth place car before a caution flew with two to go. On the restart Donlinger took off with Shryock in second, Cummins in third and Mike Sorensen working past Ihrke for the fourth spot.

Tony Bloom led early in the US ARMY WISSOTA Super Stock division with Kevin Hager in second. Tim Williamson and Chuck Nerland were racing for third right in front of Michael Hofer. With three down Hofer joined the battle for third as they now raced three wide around the speedway for third. On a restart for a lap five caution Jeff Brauer broke. On the restart Cole Queensland jumped to the outside of the track and moved from sixth to second on the first restart lap. With eight down Queensland now sat soundly in the lead with Williamson in third. Nerland and Ryan Siegle raced for fifth. With thirteen down Bloom slowed and pulled to the infield. Siegle broke down on the next lap bringing out a caution. Queensland jumped back out front with Williamson and Hager racing for second. Nerland sat in third with Dave Solum working into the top five as the checkers waved over the field.

Josh Crary and Jared Happel raced for the lead at the start of the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature event. The first caution flew after lap one and on the restart Brandon Davis powered by into the lead. Travis Krause moved into second for a lap until Dustin Scott moved past him. With three down Scott was now side by side with Davis. As the two roared down the back straight they touched and bounced off the wall but were both able to continue. With eight down Bryan Hernandez and Shaun Walski were racing with Crary for fifth. Hernandez took the spot as another caution flew. Under yellow Davis headed pit side with a flat tire. On the restart Scott took off in the lead with Jared Boumeester now pressuring him for the lead. Behind the leaders Hernandez and Krause raced for third with Hernandez taking the spot as the white hanky waved over the field. At the finish it was announced Boumeester docked two spots for jumping the last restart. So the official scoring was Scott, Hernandez, Krause, Boumeester and Walski.

The BP WISSOTA Street Stocks had a tough go of it tonight. A 3-wide entry into turn one didn't work out and they didn't learn on the second try as they went four wide into one. The two wrecks eliminated a fourth of the field before a lap was completed. Including Danny Hanson who went pit side with a flat but rejoined at the tail of the field. On the final attempt for two wide restart Brent Holland led the field for lap one with Tyler Peterson close behind in second. Shaun Mann and Donny Ganz were racing for third. Another caution flew with three completed and on that restart Mann took the lead with AJ Zvorak racing with Holland for second. Zvorak took the spot and on the next lap took the lead. Another caution with seven down saw Zvorak leading again with Hanson moving into third. behind Mann. Next lap Hanson sat in second as Mann and Ganz raced for third. The final restart came with fourteen down and on the next lap Hanson drove lower on the speedway and moved past Zvorak for the lead. Ganz took over third as the white flew. At the finish it was Hanson, Zvorak, Ganz, Mann and Troy Voth rounding out the top five.

The Mitchell Dam bar USRA B-Modifieds were up next for their feature event with Ben Moudry and Colter Deutsch vying for the lead. Moudry took the spot while Tyler Groenedyk took over the second spot. Nate Chodur moved past Deutsch for the third spot. A caution with seven down saw Brandon Hare move under Chodur for the second spot while Groenedyk took over the lead. Moudry battle with Hare for the next five circuits until Hare took over the second spot. Groenedyk was slowly pulling away from the second place battle Brian Schrage worked his way into the three after getting around Chodur late in the race. Moudry drifted back to fifth as the final caution flew.

Early in the day the action took place on the Button Buck Speedway with Lexi Schott jumping out the early lead in the Truck Country Junior Slingshot division. On lap two Matthew Schlisman moved under Dylan Buckland for the second spot. Jackson Koster was working on Buckland for third through the midpoint of the race. Schlisman gained on Schott for the lead but was unable to mount a challenge as Schott took home the win.

In the Pee-Wee division of the Truck Country slingshots Jim Chisholm jumped out front to the early lead, Jackson Hale moved into second early with Garrett Koster in third. Koster and Hale waged a race long battle with Koster taking over second on a couple laps only to have Hale work back around him. Chisholm took home the win followed by Hale and Koster. Rookie drivers Spencer Ihrke, Dakota Kelly and Keagan Einck rounded out the field and showed well in their maiden voyages.

Matthew Schlisman jumped out front in the Senior Division of the Truck Country Slingshots with Lexi Schott, Jeremy Paulson and Nia Gardner in hot pursuit as they raced three wide for the second spot. A caution on lap two bunched the field back up with Schlisman again leading Gardner and Paulson raced for the second spot with Gardner taking the position Schott and Derrick Adams were side by side behind them. Schott took the spot and moved past Paulson on the next lap and then started racing Gardner for the second spot. Another restart saw Schlisman leading, Schott in second and Adams working into third. Jace Bunne and Jeremy Paulson were now racing for fourth with Paulson finally gaining control of the spot as the white flag waved. Schlisman took home the victory.
