CHILTON SCORES COYOTE 100.7 FM SUPER LATE MODEL VICTORY AT RICHMOND RACEWAY

RICHMOND, Ky. (May 8) - After two false starts in the Coyote 100.7 FM Super Late Model division, per Richmond Raceway Rules & Regulations, the front row was penalized one row moving the second row forward. With Michael Chilton now on the pole and Jason Barrett alongside action would get underway before being halted again when Dwight Embree and Keith Smith tangle going down the back chute. Embree would be disqualified for exiting his car during a caution period; Smith would later be disqualified as when members of his crew made their way onto the racing surface under the caution period. Back underway Chilton would jump to the race lead with Barrett, Jimmy Crabtree, Jeff Watson, and Bobby Carrier Jr. giving chase. Crabtree would take second from Barrett by the second circuit. Barrett would reclaim the position on lap eight before Crabtree would sweep by again on lap ten. With Chilton still on point the top five would remain the same before Barrett again regained the second spot from Crabtree on lap 21. Chilton would go on to take the win in the Jeff Harrod owned Central Painting, CJ Rayburn Race Cars, Budda Bert Transmission Sales & Service, Harrod Farms sponsored #59 CJ Rayburn Race Car. Jason Barrett would take second in his Clarence Barrett owned Wild Cody's Guns & Ammo, Mayhem Motorsports, Dale Meers Racing Engines, North Side Auto Repair, Richmond Pawn, Baber's Towing, CJB Racecar Bodies & Graphics, JumpStart Communications sponsored #B5 TNT Race Car powered by a Dale Meers Racing Engine. In preliminary action Michael Chilton was the fastest qualifier among 11 entrants with a 15.564 seconds lap. Jimmy Crabtree would take the Trophy Dash while Keith Smith would win the Heat.

"The Highside Hustler" would roll to his second straight victory at Richmond Raceway claiming the win in the 1st Annual UMP Modified Bash and the $1,500 top prize.

The start of the 1st Annual UMP Modified Bash A-Main would see Russ Gabbert jump to the race lead with Dennis Roberson, Elliot Despain, Delane Browning, and Michael Ward giving chase. Gabbert would begin to pull away from second place Dennis Roberson by the tenth circuit while fourth place Delane Browning would retire his mount on lap 12. Michael Ward would take over fourth while Keith Denny would make his way into the top five. The leaders would begin to work lap traffic on circuit later. The caution would wave on lap 21 stacking the field back up for a 10-lap shootout to the finish. Roberson would try Gabbert on the outside in turn one for lead on the restart but Gabbert would pull away coming off turn two. The top five would go unchanged for the remaining ten laps with Gabbert picking up the win in the Brooke Sparks owned IAT Motorsports, RC Race Cars, Lodge Hall Storage, Performance QAI, Hoosier Tire sponsored #J14 RC Race Car powered by a Wegner Motorsports Racing Engine. Dennis Roberson would take second in the Mark Trimble owned Mortgage Suppliers, Austin City Saloon, Oneill's Irish Pub, Title Suppliers, RCP Realty, Micah Group sponsored #41T Lightning Chassis powered by a Dale Meers Race Engine. Elliot Despain would take third followed by Michael Ward in fourth with Keith Denny rounding out the top five. In preliminary action, Russ Gabbert was the fastest qualifier among 12 entrants with a 16.430 seconds lap. Heat Race wins went to Russ Gabbert in Heat Race #1 and Dennis Roberson in Heat Race #2.

The "Rocketman" Logan Preston would take the point from the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap Sporstman feature event. Leading flag-to-flag Preston would pick up the win in his own Jim's Clean Up, Travis Preston sponsored 1979 Chevelle powered by a Logan Preston Racing Engine. Ricky Brandenburg would take second in his Brandenburg Farms, Dave Brandenburg, Avon, Cox Auto Body sponsored 1979 Chevy Malibu powered by a Dave Brandenburg Race Engine. Darrell Baker would take third followed by Glen Hounshell in fourth with Eddie Stewart rounding out the top five. In preliminary action Preston was the fastest qualifier among 10 entrants with a 17.845 seconds lap. Heat Race wins went to Logan Preston and John Cole.

Wayne Duvall would pick up the win in the Road Hog division while Allen Hackworth Sr. would take second. Steve Perkins took third followed by Martin Stacy in fourth with Dustin Hall round out the top five. Seven entries were on hand with Hackworth Sr. taking the Heat Race win.
