PADUCAH, Ky. (April 23) - Paducah International Raceway's Night of NASCAR Stars 1 saw some unfamiliar faces in victory lane for the first time this season, as well as a first time Feature Winner as Tanner English took home the $1,500 top prize in the Super Late Model Division. Here is how it went down when the dust settled…
A total of 83 cars participated in the night's events. The Super Late Models had three Heat Races with Jason Riggs, Jeff Walston, and Dillan White each picking up a win. Tanner English who placed second in Heat 1 went on to pick up his first Feature Win at PIR. His dad, Terry English, finished second, followed by Dillan White, Randy Sellars, and Jason Riggs rounding out the top five. Track co-owners Ken Schrader and Tony Stewart finished sixth and 18th respectively. Reigning Champion Kevin Cole took home the ninth spot.
The Pro (Crate) Late Model division saw a complete about-face due to a streak of bad luck for defending Champion Tait Davenport. In the three Heats, Cary King, Jeff Patterson, and Matt Santel each picked up a win. Davenport was dominating the Feature when a flat on his right rear tire took him to the back of the pack. Jeff Glisson, last week's second place finisher, picked up the Feature Win followed by Credence Mott second, Jeff Patterson third, Matt Santel fourth, and Cary King fifth. Despite his tire problems, Davenport managed to gain eight spots to finish in the 12th position. Current Street Stock Champion JR Mason debuted his #83 Crate Late Model and went home with a 14th place finish.
