NEAT WINS RAIN-SHORTENED SUPER LATE MODEL FEATURE AT PONDEROSA SPEEDWAY

Michael Despain
JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (April 16) - Ponderosa Speedway would again present another evening of wide-open clay slinging race action on Friday evening, but Mother Nature would bring an end to the racing activities early after Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY won the Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Model main event and after six laps were completed in the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature event, Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY was declared the winner of the rain-shortened event. All drivers in the Super Late Model division will have a checked mailed to them on Monday morning for the amount of money for the spot in which they were running when the caution flew for rain and the race was declared over. The Clayton Homes UMP Modified and D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman division drivers were paid by the way they were to start their respective feature events, with Benji Lee of Loretto, KY credited with first place in the Clayton Homes UMP Modified feature and Bartley Grant of Berea, KY credited with the win in the D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman feature.

The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature saw Dustin Neat jump to the race lead and hold the top spot until the caution flew on lap 6 as the rain showers that had began to fall during the Pro Late Model feature got heavier, eventually greasing up the racing surface and making it unsafe for the competitors. Neat was declared the winner of the event in his Red Buck Cigars/Neat's Service Center/D&R Livestock sponsored #25 MasterSbilt Race Car, Estes Race Engines mount. Second through fifth would be Victor Lee, David Webb, D.J. Wells, and Michael Chilton. The remainder of the top ten were Whitney McQueary, Chris Combs, Jeff Watson, Dylan Preston, and Wesley Brummett. In preliminary action, Neat was the top qualifier among 13 entries at 14.319 seconds and also won the dash, while Watson grabbed the checkered flag in the heat.
