SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (April 10) - On a slightly cool April night 130 cars showed up to race at the speedway. With full starting fields in just about every class the fans were treated to a great night of racing action.
After a caution filled B-Modified event and a slightly less entertaining Super Stock feature the fans were ready for the WISSOTA Late Model feature and they were treated to a dandy one tonight. Brad Waits took the early lead with Kelly Anderson in second. Nick Beyenhof race with Roger Torgerson for the third spot. Further back Ricky Weiss jumped to the high side of the speedway and after a few laps got that groove flying. Weiss moved into the third spot on lap six while Anderson started to pressure Waits for the lead. with nine down Waits still held the slight edge while Doug Herrick was now racing Beyenhof for the fourth spot. Two laps later Anderson took over the spot and on the next lap Weiss flew around Waits up top. On lap thirteen Weiss kept the momentum going up top and moved past Anderson for the lead. The two started to weave through lapped traffic as the first caution of the event flew. On the restart Anderson took the lead out of two. Weiss powered in down low in three and slid up in front of Anderson out of four. Anderson returned the favor out of two but was not able to clear Weiss on the slide job with Weiss and Anderson making contact spinning Anderson out and removing the nose from Weiss. On the restart Weiss was without the nose cone and the down force as he pushed up in turn one allowing Herrick to work past into the lead. Waits and Mike Prochnow were side by side for second as the field took the white. At the checkers it was Herrick with his first ever late model feature win followed by Waits, Prochnow, Beyenhof and Chris Schueffner who cracked the top five on the last restart.
Next week racing action resumes at 5:00 with the Justice Brothers CornBelt Clash Late Model race.
