MOYER JR. SCORES TOP THREE FINISH IN $10K WILD WEST SHOOTOUT FINAL AT USA RACEWAY

Ben Shelton
BATESVILLE, Ark. (January 18) - Billy Moyer Jr. wrapped up the ultra-busy 4th Annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday night with a great third place finish in the $10,000 to win finale in his #21jr Victory Circle M1 Chassis by Moyer/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Sunday night, January 17th marked the finale for the Wild West Shootout as the $10,000 to win, Bill Cheesebourg Memorial was held at USA Raceway in Tuscon, Arizona. Forty-two Super Late Models entered the event, and Billy finished in the fourth position in his heat race after starting fourth. He would fall short of earning enough passing points to lock into the feature and was relegated to the b-main event. Moyer Jr. would race his way out of the b-main to the a-main via a third place finish, which earned him the 22nd starting spot on the grid for the 40 lap feature. The main event would get off to a rough start for Moyer Jr. as he was involved in a lap one melee that included ten cars. Luckily he received minimal damage and was able to restart the event. As the event went back green, he began to methodically work his way toward the front of the field. By lap 15 he had cracked the top ten as he rode in the 9th position. Over the final half of the race he would ultimately march his way to a great third place finish behind event winner, Jimmy Mars, and Jeremy Payne!

Sunday night's finish was a redemption for bad luck that struck on Friday night when Moyer was contesting Terry Phillips for the lead on lap 24 of the 30 lap event only to have his right rear tire go flat, relegating him to a disappointing 14th place finish.

"The car was awesome on Friday night, and I really thought that I might win that one. Then the tire went down, and it was really a let down for our team. However, with the third place run on Sunday night against this field of cars, I'm really proud with the progression that we made during the week out here in Arizona, and I'm really excited about the 2010 season!" commented Moyer Jr.

Billy's results for the week are summarized below:
