CENTRAL MISSOURI SPEEDWAY (CMS) DRIVER REGISTRATION/RULES MEETING THIS WEEKEND

Sam Stoecklin
WARRENSBURG, Mo. (January 18) - While drivers are hard at work on their race machines, CMS personnel have been just as busy preparing for the first green-flag laps of the 2010 race season.  This Saturday, January 23rd, both drivers and track personnel will break from their respective preparations for the annual 'Registration and Rules Review Meeting' at the ABC Building, on the grounds of Grover Park in Warrensburg, Missouri, from 9 a.m. to noon.  The ABC building is located just east of the King's Chef Buffet from the intersection of North Street and Hwy 13 (Maguire Street).   Drivers may register for the 2010 season at the meeting for $50; registration increases to $60 for the remainder of the year starting on March 1st.  The top ten drivers from the final 2009 standings in each division will automatically keep their car numbers if they choose; all other number requests are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.  Meeting attendees will also have the opportunity to ask CMS officials questions regarding each division's competition rules and the track's general rules.  Rules are conveniently located at www.centralmissourispeedway.net  and should be pre-reviewed prior to the meeting by all competitors in order to maintain proper order and flow during the review process.

New construction continues on the front-side concessionaire building and entrance at the track and once fans return to the speedway they will be greeted by an all-new look.  Improved concession lines and restrooms are just two of the noticeable improvements being made by 17-year track promoters/owners Earl and Susan Walls.  Although the recent snow and cold temperatures delayed things just a bit, the new facilities will be ready for the season opener.   As previously mentioned, an additional twenty loads of clay were added to the speedway just after the final 2009 checkered flag flew.  The additional clay should make the already quick and smooth racing surface even better for drivers this season.

It is still not too late to obtain season passes for the coming race season.  Weekly attendees at the track should take note of the huge savings season passes have to offer.  Passes include the Labor Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day specials, and weekly events throughout the season.  Prices for 2010 are $250 for adults, $200 for senior citizens 65 and up, $200 for military with I.D., and $200 for college students with I.D.  The two ASCS/WoW races are not included in the season passes.  For additional track information or to purchase season passes simply contact Susan Walls at (816) 229-1338.

Central Auto Racing Boosters (C.A.R.B.) will host its annual Clyde Ellis Race On/Snake Saturday event on Saturday, March 13, 2010 just across from the North Kansas City Pro Bowl.  This event has long served as a kickoff to the KC-area race season and draws nearly 100,000 attendees each year.  CMS drivers are highly encouraged to show their new 2010 cars for the viewing public while at the same time gaining exposure for their sponsors.  There will be games for the children, who will also get to meet the drivers on hand at the event.  Divers wishing to participate are asked to pre-register by contacting Karen Darling at (660) 886-3989.

The CMS Website will be under construction for the next few weeks, during this time CMS thanks its Website visitors for their patience during the transition.  All of your favorite track information including car-class rules, latest schedule, and track details may still be found at www.centralmissourispeedway.net during this time.  In order to receive all the latest CMS information drivers and fans may join the CMS email news group by sending requests to samonthemic@hotmail.com.  Potential track and event sponsors are being sought for the fast-approaching season.  Businesses may contact Susan Walls at (816) 229-1338 for additional information.  We hope to see you at the Registration and Rules Review Meeting on January 23rd.  CMS will also be on hand at the 12th Annual Bodee's Racer's Auction and Trade Show on January 30th and 31st with schedules, rules, and registration information for those stopping by the CMS booth.
