PULASKI, Penn. (January 13) - The FASTRAK Racing Series is pleased to welcome New Egypt Speedway on board as a 2010 weekly-sanctioned Late Model speedway. The upcoming season will mark the first ever for FASTRAK in the state of New Jersey. FASTRAK Northeast will also conduct a seminar for all interested parties on Friday night, January 22 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa. as part of Motorsports 2010.
"This is a major milestone for FASTRAK to be part of New Egypt's program," stated Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. "New Egypt is without a doubt one of the top facilities in the Northeast and is certainly known far and wide for their Modified program. It's quite an honor for FASTRAK to make inroads not only in Modified country, but this far east. The announcement has already piqued a lot of interest and will allow FASTRAK an opportunity to grow on the Atlantic Coast."
New Egypt Speedway is located between Philadelphia and New York City in New Egypt, New Jersey. The 3/8-mile D-shaped clay oval features headlines Big-Block Modifieds and close to 130 race cars on Saturday nights. The FASTRAK Late Models, like all other support divisions at New Egypt, will run every other week equating to approximately 15 shows. The entire facility features a daylight, quality lighting system and excellent sightlines from any seat in the house. "Over the past few years we have been seeing, reading, and hearing about FASTRAK more and more," said New Egypt General Manager Danny Serrano. "They seem to be growing by the day. Late Models are the most popular form of short track racing in America, however for some reason they haven't spread into the extreme Northeast just yet. We see that changing very soon."
"Super Late Models might take a while because of the popularity with the Modifieds here, continued Serrano, but we certainly feel there is a place for crate late models; and if you're going to go that route it only makes sense to go FASTRAK. We fully understand that this is a building process so we are indeed realistic, but at the same time extremely optimistic about the future of this division. In just a couple of short conversations with Vicki Emig, I can tell that she's excited that New Egypt has joined the FASTRAK fold and I couldn't be more happier to be working with her and the FASTRAK organization."
"We would be remised if we didn't mention and credit to Michael Sweet," explained Leone. "Sweet did a lot of the legwork last year and over the early fall in parts of New York and New Jersey to establish the North Atlantic Region; however, due to other commitments Sweet is unable to direct the region to the best of his abilities and tracks such as New Egypt, Brewerton, and Fulton that will debut the division in 2010 will now fall under the Northeast banner. We will continue to lean on Sweet and his knowledge of this area in hopes to continue to build FASTRAK throughout the Northeast."
"The continued success of the FASTRAK Racing Series has led to many firsts from the addition of new regions and speedways, more competitors, and a growing fan base to new geographic areas of the country," expressed Sweet, the former Regional Director and new West Coast liaison for the FASTRAK Racing Series. "When FASTRAK introduced its brand of racing to the New England area and New York and New Jersey most racers said, yes, we want to be involved with the series; however, at the time there were no tracks running these cars. Well, with the commitment and signing of New Egypt along with Brewerton and Fulton Speedways in New York, this has all changed."
"The only thing left to do was to make the Northeast region geographically correct," continued Sweet. "We've now fused things together making the Northeast a substantial area that includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New York and New Jersey. No other sanctioning body is increasing in size faster than FASTRAK, and the growth and influence the Northeast will have is dramtic."
FASTRAK Northeast will join with New Egypt and present a "Q & A" seminar session on Friday, January 22 at Motorsports 2010 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa. The seminar will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be free of charge to show attendees on day one of the three-day event.
"We are extremely excited to be coming to the Motorsports show to explain to everyone what FASTRAK is all about," expressed Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. "We've heard nothing but positive things about New Egypt Speedway, and now with them in our region, it'll only make the Northeast that much stronger and give even more credibility to FASTRAK"
"We understand that the fans, drivers, and promoters in many areas of the Northeast and East Coast aren't that familiar with the name FASTRAK, and that's why we holding this question and answer session," added Emig. "We want to educate everyone on how the various pieces of FASTRAK works from the points, memberships, teching and all the opportunities that come along with FASTRAK."
"The management of New Egypt is looking forward to the presentation, and FASTRAK's involvement with their track, expressed Serrano. "Anyone that is interested in the FASTRAK Late Model Series needs to be at this meeting. We've had tons of calls inquiring about the Late Models, but some of the answers are best presented by Vicki and Mike. They are going to be at Motorsports and they have been extremely helpful in this building process."
"I know other track promoters are interested in the series, but just aren't sure and have many questions themselves," continued Serrano. "The same can be said about drivers. We are also looking for authorized engine rebuilders. Those interested in becoming a part of FASTRAK should be at this meeting on that Friday (January 22) night."
The 25th annual Motorsports show will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks. Following the FASTRAK seminar, Sweet will conduct a motorsports marketing roundtable free of charge to interested parties.
