Dan Robinson WHEATLAND, Mo. (January 5) - The 2010 Lucas Oil Speedway Dirt Track Season has really taken shape. There are several big changes in store for 2010 at the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks" including adding the 18th Annual Show-Me 100, one of Dirt Late Model Racing's most prestigious Crown Jewel events, the addition of Rockstar Energy Drink as the Title Sponsor for what many consider the best weekly racing in the nation, and the addition of a Lucas Oil ASCS Midwest Region/WoW (Winged Outlaw Warriors) Co-Sanctioned Sprint Car race in May that was not on the original schedule. "I think the fans will really be excited about the 2010 Schedule as not only do we have some of the biggest and most diverse specials in the country but our weekly racing series is like watching a special event every night based on the quality of cars and drivers that race at Lucas Oil Speedway" stated Track General Manager Dan Robinson.
The 2010 Schedule gets underway with the recently rebranded Lucas Oil MLRA as they invade Wheatland, Missouri for their first of four scheduled appearances in 2010. The first "Rockstar Energy Drink Championship Series" race takes place on April 17th, as the Transport Graphics Late Models, the Pitt's Homes A-Modifieds, and the Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks all begin their chase for the Lucas Oil Speedway Season Championship. The month of April concludes on the 24th with the second "Rockstar" race of the season.
May 1st sees the first major change to the original schedule as the Lucas Oil ASCS Midwest Region and the WoW (Winged Outlaw Warriors) Sprint Cars make it a doubleheader weekend after spending Friday night at Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg. With the National Tour off that weekend, you never know who might drop in to snag the Sprint Car loot. Three consecutive "Rockstar Energy Drink Championship Series"races take place on May 8th, 15th, and 22nd as the drivers get a handle on their season. The biggest race of the season kicks off on May 27th as the 18th Annual Show-Me 100 rolls into Wheatland for the first time ever after 17 seasons at the West Plains Motor Speedway. The traditional Thursday night practice and barbecue takes place on May 27th while Late Model Qualifying, Heat Races, and a full A-Mod Show takes place on Friday, May 28th. Saturday night May 29th is one you won't want to miss as the top Dirt Late Model drivers in the country battle it out for 100 Laps on National Television and the Winner's share of the purse.
We catch our breath on June 5th with an off night before our weekly racers take back to the track on June 12th. The rest is short lived however as the high octane Lucas Oil Sprint Bandits blow into town on June 19th. If you have never seen 410 Sprint Cars without wings, this is your chance as this is their only area appearance of 2010. June concludes with the seventh "Rockstar Energy Drink Championship Series" race of the year on June 26th as we near the midpoint of the season.
We take a break on July 3rd so fans can spend time with their families at the local fireworks shows but racing resumes on July 10th as our weekly drivers continue their Championship battle. The second biggest Late Model race of the season shows up on the schedule on July 17th as the Diamond Nationals moves from it's traditional Mother's Day date for a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series/Lucas Oil MLRA $10,000 to win show. The month of July wraps up on the 31st with the first of 4 consecutive "Rockstar Energy Drink Championship Races" as the hunt for the season championship intensifies.
A slight change in the original schedule will see the month of August hosting weekly Championship races on the 7th, 14th, and 21st before the Lucas Oil MLRA makes their final appearance of 2010 on August 28th with support from A-Mods and Factory Stocks.
The "Rockstar Energy Drink Season Championship" is on the line on September 4th as drivers conclude their season after chasing the title since April. Two of the biggest events of the year however are still to come as the Nationally Televised Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Truck and Tractor pull shakes the ground on September 11th followed by the Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Car Tour on September 25th. The 2009 edition of both events were labeled as "Do Not Miss" events and they didn't disappoint, 2010 will be no exception.
