Chuck Griffith LAKEVILLE, Ohio (April 24) - The second night of competition of the 2009 racing season brought a full grandstand of fans and 87 race cars to Lakeville Speedway on Friday night. The weather was by far the best it had been this year and the racing was surely the best as well for the Ray' Garage Night.
Charlie Duncan in the Hall's Auto Sales late model lined up in the second row beside Blaine Aber with Eric Eicholtz and Mike Lonas in the front row. As the green was displayed Lonas Blasted to the the front with Eicholtz tucking in behind the leader. By lap four, Aber had replaced Eicholtz in the runner up spot and Duncan moving into third bringing Kristin Flory with him. They remained in that rotation through lap ten when the real shuffle began. Duncan began to put a lot of pressure on Aber and as those two battled, Lonas extended his lead by as many as 12 car lengths over the field. Two more laps were recorded when Duncan made the move on the high side off turn four and moved to second putting Aber to third. Duncan continued his chase of the leader and then the ugly smoke started appearing from the Lonas car and the multi time winner pulled into the infield with engine problems and was finished for the night. The final eight laps were all Duncan as he cruised to his second win of the early racing season. Kristin Flory had been tangled in a great battle with Aber as was Coby Bartrum and Matt Irey dueling for a top five finishing spot. On the very last lap, Flory hammerd down into turn three and took the runner up spot away from Aber.Irey held onto a fourth place finish for the second time this year and Bartrum gathering in fifth in the Hamlin Racing Engines sponsored Late Model division. Heat wins were won by Eicholtz and Aber.
