LAKEVILLE, Ohio (April 17) - During this long past winter, the talk on the street was about Charlie Duncan returning to Lakeville Speedway to add to his 40 plus feature wins since 1994. The rumor mill came true when he pulled onto the track Friday night in the Leroy Hall prepared Hall's Auto Sales Late Model. Duncan had taken a couple years off from regular competition at the Holmes County Speedplant.

A grandstand full of loyal race fans and a great car count in the pits was the recipe for an exciting night of racing and the competitors sure gave the crowd a very good finished product on Morris Motors night.. Duncan had not looked that good during the earlier heat race as he finished fourth and was lined up in the eighth starting spot in the Hamlin Racing Engine sponsored Late Model A Main .J.R. Gentry, fresh off his 2008 track championship, was on the pole with multi time track champ, Mike Lonas stationed on the outside of the front row. As the green was displayed, Gentry blasted out to the point with Lonas in pursuit along with Blaine Aber powering his way from fifth to run third. By lap four, Gentry had extended his lead by several car lengths over Aber and Jason Flory who were running side by side for a couple of laps. As the tenth lap was recorded, Kristen Flory was beginning to made her way to the front of the field and she had her hands full with the young Matt Irey. On lap eleven, Gentry's bid to win another feature came to an end with a broken rear suspension and was finished for the evening. On the restart it was now Lonas in the lead with Duncan, Jason  Flory, Kristen Flory and Irey. They ran in that order for the next ten laps with Lonas and Duncan glued together as the two front runners put a sizable distance between them and the third place car of Jason Flory. In the final five laps, the two leaders went side by side as they both tried different lines on the multi grooved race track. On the final lap and coming off of turn four, Duncan went up high as the crowd stood up to watch him take the win by as little as six inches at the checkered. Finishing third was Jason Flory followed by Irey and Kristen Flory.. Gentry and Aber won the two heats.
