KNOWLES BIG WINNER IN LATE MODEL ACTION AT THE EAST ALABAMA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (April 11) - Scott Knowles was the big winner Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway. Knowles first win of the night came in the egg toss competition for the Easter weekend celebration. Knowles and a lucky child from the grandstands outlasted 9 other teams of drivers and children to become the 2009 egg toss champions. Later in the night Knowles took the checkers in the Late Model feature event for his second win in a row. Knowles driving his All Star Graphix #66 Warrior picked up the Extreme Power Sports fast time award for the night with a 15:90 lap around the 3/8 mile high banked clay oval. Knowles started alongside Terrance Nowell in the Racing Zone GRT. At the drop of the green Nowell jumped out to the early lead and was able to hold off a hard charging Knowles for the first 14 laps. Knowles led the remaining 6 laps to pick up the checkers ahead of Nowell, Larry Eldridge, Richie Stephens, Matt Woodson, Jimmy Evilsizer, Larry Harrod, Bert Tompkins, Rodgerick Dykes and Chase Edge rounded out the top ten.

Montie Vaughn picked up his first win of the season in the Limited Sportsman feature. Vaughn was followed to the checkers by Dustin Elliott, Joey Eiland, Richard Mills and Steven Gaines, Jr.

John Michael won the Hobby division event for his second win of the season. Allen McConnell, Jason Craft, Chris Strength and Robert Jackson rounded out the top five.

Joey Thomas led flag to flag to claim the checkers in the Bomber feature event for the second week in a row. Thomas was followed by Shelby Amos, Trevor Elliott, Billy Duell, Jr and Matt Marchant.

Terrance Nowell took the checkers in the Modified feature event over John Greene, Herbie Donath, Stacy Mashburn and Gordy Scarbrough.

Bill Taylor picked up the Pony Stock victory ahead of Jesse Rivera, Larry Hodnett, Tim Goins and Jana Renfroe.
