TALLADEGA, Ala. (March 21) - Ted Lackey scored the win besting out a field of thirty Super LateModels in a photo finish to highlight the 2009 season opener at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on Saturday Night.

One-Hundred-Fifty-Seven entrants entered the race and entertained one of the biggest season opening night crowds on hand.

A late restart with seven laps remaining set up a classic battle with Lackey and Tim Busha.

Busha had the lead and was using the low groove of the racetrack with "The Highplains Drifter" using the top side. The two would swap grooves and the lead the next several laps. As the white flew Busha moved to the top of the track with Lackey moving to the bottom coming off of turn two and down the backstretch. As the two went through turns three and four it was Lackey on the bottom and Busha up top for a drag to the checkers with Lackey holding on by less than a foot at the line.

Busha would finish in the runner-up position with 2008 track champion Terry Smith in third. Mike Head finished in the fourth spot with Stacy Holmes rounding out the top five.

In other action Richard Ogle picked up the in the twenty-seven car Sportsman division over Michael Strickland who finished second and Joe Noojin third.

In Crate LateModel action 2008 track champion Adam Martin picked up the win over Jason Hiett who finished in the runner-up spot and Eric Cooley who was third.
