Reno-Fernley Raceway
RENO, Nev. (February 14) - Championship dirt-track racing returns to the Reno-Fernley Raceway for 2009 under a new deal with Nevada Motorsport Productions.
The agreement means the Clay Oval will open April 17-18 for a full season racing at Northern Nevada's premiere motor sport venue for many classes of clay oval racing.
The budget-friendly event will offer general admission tickets for just $7 with discounts for children and seniors - that's a price not seen in many years, promoters said.
Nevada Motorsport Productions, producer of Octane Fest, and a long-time northern Nevada Motocross promotions company, will run a full schedule of IMCA Modifieds, Pro-Stock, Gen-X, Hobby Stock, and many more classes including Motorcycle/ATV Flat-Track races each weekend from April to October.
"We're very excited to have the opportunity to re-open the clay oval of RFR," said Ty Erquiaga, who with partner Robert Daly, runs Nevada Motorsport Productions.
Reno-Fernley Raceway's kickoff April 17-18 will feature a "Double Header" format with a "Fast Friday" night and a "Saturday Night Super Show."
"Our program includes 15 "Fast Friday" night of racing that feature IMCA Modified, Pro Stock, Hobby Stock races - plus some Fridays will include Pro-4, Gen-X, Rat-Mods and Dwarfs mixed into the program," Robert Daly said.
There will also be ten "Saturday Night Super Shows" that will showcase an exciting mix of Gen-X and Pro-4 racing each week, along with an eight-round Motorcycle and ATV Flat Track/TT series. Other Saturday events include TUFF-CUP 4x4 Racing, Mud Drags, SUDS-4, Midgets and Midget Lights racing.
Other Double Header weekends are scheduled for June 26-27 and October 2-3.
"The program at Reno Fernley Raceway will also support local business, provide really affordable entertainment for the community and grow motor sports here in northern Nevada," Erquiaga said.
"We will open the season with general admission tickets priced at ONLY $7.00" said Erquiaga. "We are all feeling the pinch in these times so we feel an obligation to show the community we are here for them and hope everyone will support our program."
The 500-acre Reno-Fernley Raceway was started in 1998 and has expanded to become the region's premiere racing venue. It is located on State Route 95A, just 15 minutes south of Interstate 80. It is about a 35 minute drive from Reno.
A full race and event schedule will be available at www.nevadaracer.com in late February.
