GLENCOE, Ala. (October 29) - North Carolina native Ray Cook continued his hot 2009 season by taking the Road to 'Dega 40 Thursday night at Green Valley Speedway. On a night that the track record was shattered, Cook pulled away late in the feature to grab the $3,000 check at the "Jungle." Cook started outside of the first row along side Todd Morrow and quickly took the lead while Georgia's Tony Knowles was in hot pursuit and an on the move Shane Clanton. 19 green flag laps found racing all thru the pack with many battles mid-pack. A 3 car wreck slowed things on lap 20 and once again on lap 21. From that point on it went green to the checkers with Cook pulling away slightly from the pack. Shane Clanton who earlier in the night destroyed the track record by four-tenths of a second, charged from the fourth row, dispatched Knowles with just a handful of laps to go was coming but came up short to grab second. Knowles ended up third, while a from the tail Clint Smith charged all the way up to fourth nipping a surprising Josh Putnam. Green Valley track officials had worked all week on the surface and it paid off with good racing thru the night. Clanton's track record of 13.55 sec. blistered the old mark of 13.95 sec. The most amazing laps ever at GVS, never lifting the throttle in that awesome 2-lap time trial run. 51 Super Late Models signed in this night.
