FARLEY, Iowa (September 19) - Sam Harroun won the late model b-main with Becky Roth taking home second. Both drivers decided to move onto to the 100 lap late model feature.
Dave Eckrich was awarded the pole position of the 100 lapper after winning the Late Model fast dash. Jason Rauen who was awarded the outside pole position after the dash lead the first lap of 100 lap Yankee race followed by Dave Eckrich and Dan Schleiper. By lap two Rauen had a good size lead building and by lap six he had almost a straight away lead over second. Rauen began to lap cars on lap nine and his lead began so shorten. The first of many cautions came on lap 12 allowing for a restart. Rauen continued to lead with Dave Eckrich and Chad Simpson behind. The top four broke away from fifth on lap 14. The top three of Rauen, Dave Eckrich and Simpson bunched up on lap 19 then the leader of Rauen wobbled then got in the crumbles in turn coming to a stop and the caution was called. With the leader in the pits Dave Eckrich took over the lead with younger brother Andy behind him. After another restart a three wide battle for the lead between Simpson, Dave and Andy Eckrich arose with Simpson taking over the lead. By lap 30 the top 5 were running single file and Simpson was beginning to lap traffic on lap 31. Simpson continued to lead after several cautions. On lap 62 Dave Eckrich began to fall back from his fourth place and slowed in turn two heading to the pits. After the restart Andy Eckrich challenged Simpson for the lead but Simpson continued to lead. After several more cautions and restarts Andy Eckrich was unable to get the lead away from Simpson. On lap 87 some excitement was seen by the large crowd. Ron Klein, Jake Meier and Rob Moss all got wobbly and got together. Meier and Klein spin together and get the front stretch guard rail then Meier rolled and landing on his roof and a caution was called. Simpson continued to lead after the restart. Simpson took home his second Yankee Dirt Track Classic win ahead of Denny Eckrich, Andy Eckrich, Steve Ihm and Jeff Larson.
