WINCHESTER, Va. (September 12) - On a cool, dreary looking day as fall descends on the Shenandoah Valley, the competitors at the Winchester Speedway brought the curtain down on the 2009 points season. Racing brought the temperatures up on the chilly night with Tony Crim ending a career points year with his second win of the Late Model season and Tommy Armel securing the points title in the Late Model division. It was Dennis Lamb returning to victory lane in the Limited Late division with Brian Buckler securing the title in that division. It was Joey Carter taking win number two in the Pure Stocks the same night that Mike Corbin secured the division title. Tommy Whitt took his first of the season in the 4-Cylinders as Chuck Johnson secured his title. And Kevin Oates took win number 3 in the U-Cars as Josh Wilkins took the first U-Car title at Winchester Speedway.

The Late Model field took the green and it was Tony Crim getting the jump over Gerald Davis, the field quickly came to caution on the first lap when Kyle Hardy looped it and collected Chris Cromer and Allen Brannon in turn four. The race went green from that point on though as Crim and Davis waged battle ahead of the field. Lap after lap Crim would hold off Davis, the two were nose to tail every single lap. Running behind the trio was Tommy Armel, who secured the 2009 track title by merely taking the green flag. In the late laps Tony Crim could see lapped traffic ahead, namely the car of John Moser. As the field took the white it was evident that the lapped machine would play a role. As Crim entered three he took the Moser machine high while Davis drew behind the Moser machine and ran low pulling alongside Crim. As the duo exited four it was Tony Crim using the high line to secure his career best second win of the season, Gerald Dav is took the second spot. Tommy Armel could celebrate his first ever title at the Winchester Speedway crossing the line third, Armel's season long points competitors Wes and Denny Bonebrake rounded out the top five. Brad Omps, Allen Brannon, Jared Almarode, Walter Crouch, and Walker Arthur rounded out the top ten. Heats for the 17 cars went to Gerald Davis and Tony Crim.
