WARRENSBURG, Mo. (September 5) - The skies finally cleared and the sun broke through late in the afternoon to shine on the track Saturday night for night one of the special Labor Day weekend events at Warrensburg's own Central Missouri Speedway.  Night one of the two-day event, which was postponed from Friday night, was highlighted by the 25-lap, $1,500-to-win, scratch that, $1,700-to-win feature event in the ULMA late model division.  An anonymous donor put up an extra $200 to the winner last night for the late models and another anonymous donor added an extra $100 to the driver who advanced the most positions in the feature event for the late model drivers.  The 'mighty' modifieds also competed on Saturday night racing for the inside row starting positions for the grand finale on Sunday.

Up next were the late models for three heat races, there were 25 ULMA late models on hand, the late models also competed under the passing-points method for their feature event lineup.  The three heat race winners were Joe Walkenhorst, Dustin Vance, and Shawn Rayfield.  It was Rayfield of O'Fallon, Missouri who led the charge at the front of the field for the 25-lap main event for the late models with Joe Walkenhorst, Robbie Test, and Jon Binning in hot pursuit.  Several cautions for debris flew early in the race with Dwight Niehoff, Joe Walkenhorst, and Zach Green all leaving the track early with problems.  Jon Binning began to charge his way to the front by taking over second on lap number two shortly after another restart but debris brought out the caution flag and Binning had to go back to third as the field was realigned.  James Stafford, Randy Ainsworth, and Danny Monroe also exited the race early as did Bob King.  Rayfield, Perryman, Binning, Barker, Robbie Test, and Vance were the top six once things got into a rhythm by lap five.  Rayfield began pulling away from Perryman and Binning in second and third with David Barker close by in fourth.  Binning took over second by lap nine with Perryman slipping back to third.  On lap ten, the caution waved for Brett Wood's spin in turn three with Rayfield leading the field back to green-flag action.  Binning pressured Rayfield for the lead on the restart on the high side as the two drivers moved away from third-running Barker.  Rayfield lost the lead on lap twenty to Binning after getting caught behind Derek Nevels.  With Binning now at the helm, the caution flew one final time as Rayfield pressured Binning to try to regain the lead.  On the restart, Binning gave it all he could to hang on to the lead with Rayfield breathing down his neck in second.  In the end, Binning's All-Pro Electrical GRT by Bodee's was too strong and Binning came away with his richest payday ever, claiming the $1,700 first-place payout.  Rayfield finished a respectable second, just in front of Barker who ran a great race into third.  Steve Clancy gained several positions and came away fourth, one spot ahead of fifth running Allen Perryman and 'Flyin' Mike Ryun in sixth.  Ryun also received bonus money from an anonymous donor as he gained the most positions as a ULMA member driver from his original starting position of twenty-second.  The rest of the top ten at the conclusion of the event were Gary Billings Jr., Bob Test, Walt Imhoff, and Ashley Lancaster, in her first-ever CMS appearance
