Skagit Speedway ALGER, Wash. (September 3) - Thursday night of World of Outlaws weekend at Skagit Speedway saw two stock car classes in attendance put on two fantastic main event finishes. The Northwest I-5 Dirt Car Late Models ran a 30 lap main event, with cars going door to door almost the whole event. Jeremy Shank of Salem, OR set the pace early, taking his car to the top side on the initial start. As he entered traffic, veteran Greg Walters of Banks, OR ran him down and made a daring pass in traffic, splitting the difference between to lapped cars entering turn one on lap fifteen. The pass stuck and Walters motored away till a yellow flag bunched the field up on lap 29. Per Dirt Car rules, the green and white flag flew on the restart, and Jim Whisler of Otis, OR found some tacky left in the high groove and powered around Walters for the last lap pass coming to the checkered flags. Walters hung on for second with Shank taking third. John Duty of Happy Valley, OR was quick time. Heat race wins went to Shank, Joey Tanner of Portland, OR and Duty. Whisler won the dash.
