PHENIX CITY, Ill. (August 29) -  After a great monster truck show and a week off it was time for the local stars of East Alabama Motor Speedway to get back to business. Larry Harrod was coming off an impressive streak of five poles and looking to make it six, but Dana Eiland had other plans. In Extreme Power Sports Pole Qualifying Larry Harrod once again laid down a good lap but it was Dana Eiland with a lap of 15.49 seconds that ended Harrods search for a sixth pole. With qualifying concluded a field of 16 Alabama Rock late models were set to do battle. Eiland was on the pole with Harrod to his outside in second. Bobby Eiland lined up third with Paul Walters in fourth. When the green waved Eiland jumped out to the lead with Bobby Eiland following in second. Harrod was in third trying to hold off a hard charging Richie Stephens who had gotten around Walters to occupy the forth position. The running order would remain the same until lap 11 when the leaders caught some lap traffic. The lap traffic proved to be beneficial to Larry Harrod and he was able to close in on Bobby Eiland and make the pass in turns 3 and 4. As the laps started to wind down Dana Eiland enjoyed a half a lap lead on the rest of the field. Harrod was trying to chase down Eiland but he wasn't making up any ground. Bobby Eiland was still running in third and had managed to put some distance between himself and Richie Stephens who was in forth. Scott Knowles who had been running sixth had managed to get past Paul Walters to move into the top five with Walters dropping to sixth. With only three laps to go it was clear that not only would Larry Harrods pole streak end tonight but so would his winning streak as well. With the checkers waving Dana Eiland crossed the line first, Larry Harrod was second with Bobby Eiland third. Richie Stephens was forth with Scott Knowles coming home in the fifth position.
