IMPERIAL, Penn. (August 22) - Danny Rich wins the 18th Annual Sportsman 20, Jared Miley, Jason Rider, Jacob Hawkins, Gary Koteles, and Tyler Atkinson also win at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway on August 22 2009.
South Park PA's Jared Miley picked up his 5th DIRT Car Super Late Model feature win of the season. Jon Hodgkiss and Ben Miley brought the field down for the start of the 25 lap main event. After a false start, the race was under way with Ben Miley grabbing the lead followed by Jared Hawkins (who was making his first start of the season at PPMS), Tommy Beck and Jim Lepro. On lap 2 Hawkins took the lead and began to pull away. Beck moved into second with Ben Miley in third and sixth starting Jared Miley in fourth. Hawkins opened up a pretty good lead with Beck in second and Jared Miley moving into third ahead of Ben Miley and now with 12th starting Steve Baker in fifth. Jared Miley moved into second on lap six and set sail for Hawkins who had pulled over a straightaway lead. Miley began to run Hawkins down for first and caught him on lap 10 and went by. The two leaders had a pretty sizable lead over third at that point and the battle for third began to heat up between Beck, Steve Baker, who passed Ben Miley for fourth, Miley, Brandon Burgoon and Mike Johnson. Baker reeled in Beck by lap 16 but it seemed as if the outside of the track began to go away and the inside picked up allowing Ben Miley to get around Baker for fourth on lap 17. Mike Johnson found something on the bottom in the late stages and worked past Baker, Ben Miley and Beck to get third at the checker. At the finish it was Jared Miley, Jared Hawkins, Mike Johnson, Tommy Beck, Ben Miley, Jim Stephans, Steve Baker, Brandon Burgoon, Jacob Hawkins, and Jim Lepro. Steve Baker and Brandon Burgoon picked up the heats.
