STEWART, Ohio (July 24) - The Skyline Speedway racing surface was next to perfect, but especially suited the needs of Evans, WV Late Model driver Chris Garnes who claimed his third Skyline win of the year. Veteran Danny Smith finished a good racing week with a 410 sprint win, Doug Henry claimed the Malta AMRA Modified main, Shawn McClain took the Four-Cylinders, Ryan Wilson the Pure Stocks, and Kyle Bond won the Jack Shutts Memorial Mini-Wedge main.

Driving his "back-up" car, Garnes made a clean sweep of Skyline by claiming fast time of 12:87, winning his heat, and dominating the feature. The second-hand Rayburn was one-step ahead of the rest of the field as he claimed his fifth overall feature win of the year. He was also just a couple ticks off the track record in qualifying. "This car has been out twice this year and won both times," said Garnes. "Pretty good for a back-up car. The track was good and the car was good. I guess that was a good combination...that and a little bit of luck." Garnes Pro-Power #42 Rayburn took the early lead and began to lap the backmarkers by the eighth circuit. With Garnes dominating out front K-C Burdette and Roy Roush were left to fight it out for second, but that too changed when Roush exited with a flat. Tyler Carpenter inherited third and set his sights on Burdette. Justin Powell and Richard Frazier made contact on the front chute, leaving Powell with mechanical woes. While Powell was trying to exit he was hit hard by fourth place Audie Swartz, and with no where to go Larry Bond jumped the cushion and slammed the outside third turn barrier to take evasive action. Andy Bond and Nick Corbitt also started charges from the rear as did Jeff Burdette. Carpenter took over second on lap fourteen, but was no match for the rim-riding Garnes. The younger Burdette staved off points' leader Audie Swartz in a great run for third. Jeff Burdette and Andy Bond tied for hard charger honors. Burdette was the last of the transfer cars from the heat races and Bond was the winner of the first consolation race. Brian Eaton, Travis Brookover, Corbitt, and Ron Mayle also had good runs mixing it up for position and a shot at a top ten run. Behind Garnes in the top ten were Tyler Carpenter, K-C Burdette, Audie Swartz, Jeff Burdette, Andy Bond, Brian Eaton, Travis Brookover, Nick Corbitt, and Ron Mayle.
