WARRENSBURG, Mo. (July 18) - This weekend the drivers and race fans were treated to a rare cool July summer evening for the twelfth weekend of competition on Pepsi Race Night at Warrensburg's own, Central Missouri Speedway. 86 drivers registered in the pits with the competition for the point's championship heating up in several divisions. Randy Ainsworth from Excelsior Springs becomes the ninth ULMA driver to win a feature for his first-ever dirt late model victory lane celebration.
Ainsworth and Robbie Test led the 19 ULMA late models into turn one for the feature with Robbie Test, Binning and Bob King tangling in the first turn after Test spins on the low side leaving the other drivers no place to go. On the second starting attempt, Bob Test spins again in turn one and takes Jason Sivils, Derek Nevels and Dwight Niehoff with him. After a third attempt, Ainsworth uses his low-side position to lead Rayfield on the first lap with Rayfield spending the rest of race attempting to move past him. On lap two, overall ULMA overall points leader, Kevin Kaiser breaks his steering and has to pull into the pits along with Nevels who had mechanical problems. Brain Pipes pulls off on lap six with a flat ending his night. Sivils and Zack Green made contact with Green sliding into the infield in front of the grandstands on the front side. After the re-start, Rayfield and Clancy attempted to move around Ainsworth, but running the low side and not moving up the track, Randy Ainsworth hangs on for his first-ever ULMA feature win. Rayfield finishes strong for the second week in a row with a second place finish. Clancy moves up into third with Danny Monroe fourth and Kevin Coyne fifth.
