JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (July 17) - Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY would roll into Ponderosa Speedway on Friday evening and drive away with the win in the 25 lap Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event. Randy Turpin of Lebanon, KY would take his second straight win in the Clayton Homes Modified feature event, while P.J. Feistritzer of Danville, KY claimed the Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Model main event, with Bartley Grant of Berea, KY scoring the win in the Bob Allen Motor Mall Sportsman feature race.

The 25 lap Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature event would see Johnny Wheeler take the lead at the drop of the green flag and would go unchallenged in picking up the $1,000 payday in an event slowed by only one caution on lap 2 for a spin by Daniel Hatcher. Wheeler would stretch his lead out over the final ten circuits and would take his first win of the season at Ponderosa Speedway in the Kenneth and Bernadette Harlow owned Cliffside Farms/ Caldwell Body Shop/A&A Mechanical/PPM Racing Products/Budda Bert Transmissions Sales and Service sponsored #16 PPM Racing Chassis, Butch Smith Race Engines powered machine. Buzz Williams would take runner-up honors, with Michael Chilton winning the battle for third over Jeff Watson, while Arnie Fields completed the top five. Johnny Wheeler would be the Wayne Bowen Racing Supply top qualifier at 14.157 seconds and also won the heat.
