SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (June 20) - Deer Creek Speedway held their first kids club meeting today and a large turnout of kids were on hand to tour local fire trucks, police cars ambulance and EMT vehicles. Later kids took tours of the pits and the racetrack on the Deer Creek cruiser bus and watched races from the infield as the racing activities took place on Snap on Tools and Old Dutch Potato Chips night at the speedway.
Kelly Anderson led lap one of the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model event while Mike Prochnow split Dennis Hillson and Kevin Kuehn to take over second early on. A restart with two down saw Prochnow take the lead away from Anderson, Justin Sass moved into fourth behind Kuehn. Sass worked hard on Kuehn for the next five laps but was unable to get a good enough run to make the pass. Prochnow and Anderson slowly pulled away from the field. During the last ten laps Joe Ludemann was the man on the move after starting thirteenth on the field he slowly worked his way around the bottom of the track and moved under Sass as the checkers flew. Prochnow held on for the win with Anderson and Kuehn rounding out the top three. Nick Herrick and Kuehn won the heat races.
