SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (June 13) - Mike Prochnow raced Dennis Hillson off turn four for the lead on lap one of the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Models. With Prochnow in the lead Hillson had his hands full of Keith Foss and Kevin Kuehn. Foss took over second on lap three while Matthees moved under Kuehn for fourth. Matthees then moved under Hillson and took over third with twenty to go. Justin Sass was working his way forward and moved into the top five with fifteen to go. Over the next eight laps Kuehn and Sass raced for the third spot with Sass eventually taking over the spot. Foss and Matthees were evenly paced of the last half of the race with Matthees running low and Foss in the middle of the speedway. Matthees would gain advantage through the corner and on exit but Foss would blow by on the momentum line. Prochnow took home the win while Foss and Matthees rounded out the top three. Matthees and Prochnow took home the heat wins.
