SARVER, Penn. (June 12) - Friedman's Freshmarket DIRTcar Late Models feature will go down as one of the most exciting yet shocking late model races of the year at Lernerville Speedway. For those who were not able to make it to Lernerville tonight, you missed the show! Thanks to a lucky pill pulled by an admiring fan, Todd Bachman was the driver to receive the pole position for the Late Model feature. As the drivers introduced their cars to the track it was Two-Time Defending Track Champion Alex Ferree in second with Gary Lyle and John Flinner making up the second row. With the drop of the green the battle began! Bachman automatically took to the low side while Ferree went high to take the early lead. By lap five, Gregg Satterlee looked as if he would take over fourth place coming from ninth until he ran a little high off of turn four causing him to go straight back to where he started. Nearly side by side, Flinner and Ferree battled for first while heat winner, Jared Miley held a strong third. A mild mistake made by Ferree caused him to lose the second spot giving it to Miley. In a desperate attempt in the second to last lap, Miley caused a red flag with a shocking move that threw his car into Flinner and nearly caused him to flip. With this sudden turn of events and two laps to go Flinner and Ferree would start first and second. With the drop of the green the crown went wild and suddenly in turn two Flinner and Ferree made a synchronized spin out, but were both given their spots back as the caution had already been brought out by Tony Musolino and John Garvin Jr. in turn four. On the second green/white/checkered restart, it was Gregg Satterlee making a last charge along the bottom of turns three & four trying to pass below Flinner. The cars appeared to be even at the flagstand and the AMB scoring transponders showed that Gregg Satterlee had won the race by two-one hundredths of a second of John Flinner. The narrow margin of victory was huge for Satterlee as the Mid-Season Championship guarantees Satterlee a provisional in the 3rd Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com! The rest of the top five included Alex Ferree in third, Doug Horton in fourth, and Dave Johnson in fifth. Heat race winners include John Flinner and Jared Miley.
