LAKEVILLE, Ohio (June 12) - Early in the week it appeared that the weather was going to be a real problem at The New Lakeville Speedway as the rains laid over the area for several days. However Friday morning brought the sunshine and some great racing attitudes from over 80 racers that entered the action at the 3/8 mile speedplant with three new drivers reaching the winners circle on America's Best Siding night.

Two heat races were contested in the Hamlin Racing Engines Late Model division with Ryan Eddleblute taking one and Blaine Aber racing to a win. When it was feature time, two young guns were lined up in the front row with Matt Irey and Eric Eicholtz filling those spots with Kristin Flory and Eddleblute in row two and behind those two rows were several veterans with over eighty total feature wins in their potfoilos. As the green was displayed Irey went to the point with Eicholtz hot on his tail as the first yellow flag was out for a spinning car. The restart showed the same formation, but now Flory was making a charge as she was pressuring Eicholtz for the runner up position and J.R. Gentry was pestering Coby Bartrum as those two raced for the fifth position. The second yellow slowed the field for debris on the racing surface and they were aligned in a single file restart. Irey was able to get a great burst on every restart and staved Eicholtz's valiant attempts to take the point. Way back in the ninth starting spot was Mike Lonas and Charlie Duncan was working from his tenth place. The By lap seven Gentry got around Bartrum for the fourth spot and had his sights on the third place car of Kristin Flory. Gentry found that was not an easy chore as those two past track champions entertained a very excited grandstand of fans with thier side by side racing for several laps. Looking at lap eleven, Jason Flory became a player and wooed the crowd as he raced very close with his wife Kristin. Another yellow was on the track on lap seventeen and again Irey was not going to permit anyone to take his night of glory away from him and protected the bottom of the racing surface like a seasoned veteran. As the checker was waving, the entire grandstand was on their feet as they were just as happy to see Irey record his very first career win, as he was, to go to the victory circle in his Mid Ohio Graphics sponsored ride. Jason Flory's charge to the front ended on lap twenty three as he pulled off the track with suspension/steering problems. Following Irey to the finish was Eicholtz,Kristin Flory, Gentry with Mike Lonas taking fifth as points leader Charlie Duncan gathered in sixth.
