Chuck Griffith LAKEVILLE, Ohio (May 30) - J.R. Gentry took the lead on lap twenty three of the thirty lap Triple Crown at Lakeville Speedway on Ron Eddleblute's Garage night and cruised to his first win of the season after securing the track championship in 2008. After all the preliminary events were contested the fields were set for the finales. That is when the skies opened up and the rain began that lasted about forty five minutes. After the last drop fell, the track crew, along with several drivers jumped on the racing surface and put together an excellent multi grooved track that kept the fans on the edge of their seats the rest of the night for all the features. Blaine Aber had won his heat and was staged on the pole with Coby Bartram on the outside of the front row with Gentry in third and Kristin Flory in fourth. As the green flag was displayed Aber shot to the lead and set sail in his Loudenville Tire, Advance Auto Parts sponsored Late Model and appeared that he was on his way to victory. By lap five, he encountered lap traffic and worked it to his advantage as Bartram was doing a good job of staying up front with the leader. A caution bunched the field up on lap nine and on the restart Gentry went up on top to take the runner up spot away from Bartram. On the following lap, the yellow was out again for Steve Shaffer and Terry McIntire as those two got together in turn one. Seventh place starter Charlie Duncan was mounting his charge to the front when his night was finished with mechanical problems. Jason Flory had started back in the fourteenth spot and was picking off positions as the action was heating up between Aber and Gentry as lap after lap Gentry tried to reel Aber in. It appeared that something on the suspension gave way on Abers car as it became an ill handling monster for Aber to handle and the fans were given a real treat to see the two leaders go side by side for several circuits. Rick Bond was forced to start in the fifth row but was not to be denied a top scoring position. After five laps of side by side action with Aber and Gentry, Gentry made his move to the bottom side of the track as Aber slid a little high off turn four and Gentry took the point and dashed to the win. Aber was able to hang onto third as Jason Flory took second place on the final lap with Bartram getting fourth and Bond gathering in fifth. Mike Lonas and Aber secured the two heat wins.
