COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 30) - It was four classes that were on hand for last Saturday night at the Cottage Grove Speedway. Late Models:
In their first race back since the May 22nd race with the Northwest I-5 DIRTcar Late Model Series la strong number of entries signed in as seventeen drivers qualified for the night. Fast time of the night went to Craig Hanson of Albany at 13.540 seconds. In the Vintage Inn Family Restaurant Trophy Dash one caution occurred on lap two but it laws not an obstacle for Andy Freeman of Central Point to pick up the win in his first visit of the year.

In the first heat race no cautions occurred as Paul Culp of Springfield, who finished fifth in the NW I-5 DIRTcar Series race, was able to win the eight lap affair. In heat two the theme was the same as no cautions occurred as Mike DeSilva of Springfield was able to cross the line first. The invert chip was a ten so that meant that fast timer would start in tenth while second quick would start in ninth and so on.

The thirty lap feature began with Randy Martin of Eugene and Dustin Comer of Springfield battling for the lead. Only two cautions occurred during the race as Mike DeSilva was able to take the lead and extend it by approximately a quarter of a lap. Paul Culp by now had worked his wlay to second place and was attempting to reel in DeSilva but couldn't quite cut the interval down. DeSilva would go on to win his first race of 2009 while Paul Culp finished in second. In third place Casey Vitale of Albany was able to work his through the tough field while in fourth was Don Muth Sr. of Cottage Grove as Ty Mayden of Cheshire rounded up the top five.

Well fans that will do it for this week's edition as the next race will be Friday night for round three for the Kage Karts. Then on Saturday it will be a Sprint Cars only night as Budget Lumber presents the 360 Sprints, Limited Sprints, and the Northwest Wingless Tour 360's and Midgets.
