George Baumann PLYMOUTH, Wisc. (May 23) - Afternoon showers resulted in a one hour and forty-five minute delay in the start of racing, but for the many fans it was worth the wait. Despite the late start the entire race program was completed.
The Late Model A-Main was very fast and despite four cautions, the action was fast. Jim Schmidt (Cleveland) started on the pole and quickly built a straight-away lead before a lap twelve restart. Schmidt would again build a lead only to have a lap nineteen caution bunch up the field again.
Behind Schmidt, Scott Sohrweide (Chilton) was racing close with a number of hard chargers before Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) worked his way past on the final lap for second.
The final caution was on lap twenty-two and Schmidt had Sohrweide and Scheffler lined up close behind but was able to hold them off to get the win.
Sohrweide would finish third with Kyle Odekirk (Waldo) and Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) rounding out the top five,
Late Model heats were won by Odekirk and Sohrweide.
