CANEY, Kans. (May 23) - Chuck Comer of Joplin, Missouri had extra cause to celebrate on the holiday weekend as he took home the top prize for the second race in a row in MidwestDirt Late Model Series action at the Caney Valley Speedway.

After drawing pill #5 in the redraw Comer raced within the top 5 the early part of the race. The start belonged to Chris Deaton, who set the pace early with Michael Wilson right on his tail. Deaton would slow to a stop exiting turn 4 a handful of laps into the race with what ending up being a broken oil pump belt and relegating him to the 20th finishing position on the evening.

With the restart came a pile up exiting turn 4 involving Bill McMurtrie, Clint Hatley, Tyler Gottschalk, and Chase Meade. Michael Wilson resumed the race from the point after Deaton's departure and would take a strong lead throughout the midway point of the race. Lapped traffic and patience allowed Comer to work his way through the top 5, getting past Gary Gorby, Rex Merritt, and Cale Gottschalk. The yellow flew for a final time on lap 20 for debris which set up a 5 lap dash to the finish.

Wilson took to the outside with Comer on the outside on the restart and the two ran side by side for 3 laps before Comer finally edged ahead and ran away to take the win in the final 2 laps. Wilson settled for second with Gorby third, Merritt fourth, and Jimmy Segraves fifth.

Segraves put together the run of the night with an impressive dash from 19th to 5th, picking up the night's Hard Charger award.

The next event for the MidwestDirt Late Model Series is scheduled for June 13 at the Caney Valley Speedway.
