GLENCOE, Ala. (November 23) - This weekend Tony Knowles and CATDADDY Clint Smith split the SLM Series' Championship races with $2,500 victories on Saturday and Sunday respectfully in Glencoe, AL. Southern Regional Racing series president and racer Tony Morris raced to a pair of runner-up finishes and earned an bonus money, on top of the 2nd place payout, from Green Valley Speedway owner/promoter Dennis Harker. Morris earned the most points of the two-day event. The weekend was not without its drama as Dingus Griffin lead the BAMA-BRAWLERS in qualifying efforts, setting a new track record Sunday as the only racer to dip into the 13 second bracket with his BLACKMAGIC Super Late Model mount. Knowles topped Saturday's feature after setting fast-time ahead of Griffin and twenty-seven (27) other entrants, clocking a 14:284 lap. The # 26 "RSD Enterprises, SAE Parts, MSRMafia.com, Hunter Electric and GW Performance" sponsored Rocket / Custom Racing Engines, Cadillac racer lead the entire event over Morris, Griffin, Travis Pennington and Tim Busha respectfully. (more event images following story)

Sunday, World of Outlaw Late Model series superstar Clint Smith rolled in and corralled Griffin's new track record, starting from the outside front-row. During the feature newly crowned 2008 (and back to back) SRRS series champion Byron Michael had to be airlifted to a Birmingham area hospital, after a scary crash in turn three. Next day prognossis are looking good, according to Harker, whom paid a visit to the recovering champion. Harker also matched donations taken up at the track to assist in Michael's bills. Michael is expected to be released with no serious injuries by Tuesday. Smith piloting his # 44 "JP Drilling, Cliburn Tank Lines, Stevenson Plumbing and Mechanical" sponsored GRT / Racetek, Chevrolet Monte Carlo collected the victory with Morris again the bridesmaid. Pennington advanced one position from Saturday's feature to finish third, with William Thomas fourth and Knowles rounding out the top 5.
