CLEVELAND, Tenn. (October 18) - After a long trek back to Tennessee from Ohio, Dale McDowell and the Goddard Guttering and Industrial Super Late Model team took the 40 lap 19th annual Grant Adcox Memorial Saturday night at the Cleveland Speedway. McDADDY took the lead, to the delight of the cool-weather crowd, offically one lap prior to the half-way point when leader Anthony White careened off the turn 4 wall and crashed, in front of the # 1G "Willett Powder Coating, BiLo Markets, Dover Cylinder Heads, Curtis Equipment, Christenberry Trucking" sponsored Warrior / Custom powered, Pontiac GTO. "I wanna thank the crowd, first and fore-most" stated McDowell from victory lane, who was joined by Herb Adcox, Grant's father in victory lane. "This being the first cool temperatured event of the season. I had the pleasure of racing with Grant and for Mr. Adcox early in my career and I wanna say this is a big honor for me." McDowell then presented Adcox with the Outlaw Graphics Winners Check that proudly displayed some of Grant's racing accomplishments.

McDowell would be the fourth and final racer locked-in from qualifying time trials that saw twenty-three (23) competitors sign-in for the $4,000. to-WIN unsanctioned event. Pole-sitter Billy Ogle Jr. and Kayne Hickman rolled the field to start early Saturday night with Hickman jumping out-front for 3/4ths a lap, before breaking the water-pump. A reformed restart then took place minus Hickman, putting the DIRTY WHITE BOY on the outside front-row. White took command, as Ogle, dropped behind McDowell and Skip Arp as the first 3 laps clicked off. Riley Hickman crashed off turn 4 to rear the first caution with White still in charge. McDowell used lapped traffic to take a momentary lead on lap 9, but caution appeared a negated the pass and handed White back the lead. It would be lap 19 when McDowell would narrowly divert disaster when the DWB crashed while leading. Arp would end his run just prior to White's crash as Jamie Perry began pressuring. ROCKETBOY Tommy Kerr inherited the # 2 spot temporarily as attrition began playing key rolls throughout the field.

With Kerr out on lap 26, Perry had a few chances at McDADDY on the restarts as Derek Ellis and Randy Weaver took shots in the Top 5 late, but faltered with problems in turn 4. Ogle whom faded to as far back as 5th, but rallied at the end of event to a 3rd place nod. Rounding out the Top 5 behind McDowell, Perry and Ogle were Kentucky's Tommy Bailey and North Carolina's Gabe Wilson respectfully. "We're excited about Dale joining the team" stated team owner Sanford Goddard. "It's a great match-up, we need somebody like Dale to take us to the next level, while Dale can benefit from us with our connections and products." Regarding off-season seminars, driving and set-up schools. McDADDY will enter Sunday's Advance THUNDER series Buddy Rogers Memorial at Mountain Raceway Park & Fairgrounds in Maryville. Next weekend the team may be in competition in Tennessee or Georgia depending upon certain circumstances.
