QUINCY, Ill. (October 5) - The Budweiser IMCA Late Model field may have been short of cars but the fifteen entrants put on a great feature event. Keith Pratt jumped from his outside front row starting spot to grab the early lead followed closely by Sam Halstead and Jerry Weisenberger. The three leaders raced closely over the opening laps with Weisenberger grabbing the second spot from Halstead on lap six. The top three spots stayed the same until Lonnie Bailey climbed into third on the fifteenth lap and set his sights on the top two spots. Bailey got past Weisenberger on lap seventeen and took over the lead two laps later. Pratt was not going to go away easily as he stayed within striking distance of the lead until a caution flag flew going to the white flag. Bailey maintained the lead on the restart with Pratt settling for second a mere half second behind. Nick Ingalls grabbed the third spot followed by Rob Toland in fourth and Jason Perry in fifth. Halstead and Weisenberger were the heat race winners.
