LEBANON, Ore. (September 20) - Tory Swayngim of Sodaville ended the Willamette Speedway season the same way he began it.

Swayngim passed Bob Boyd of Albany on the 19th lap and held off four-time track champion Trevor Glaser of Tangent the rest of the way to win his fourth Outlaw Late Model A-Main event in Saturday Night's "Thanks to Hoosier" Championship night.

Glaser had already clinched his fourth consecutive Outlaw class championship. Russ Sell of Brownsville unofficially finished second in points with Rob Mayea of Bend in third and Swayngim in fourth.

The race also was the fourth of five in the Hoosier I-5 Challenge Series, and 2004  series champion Mayea continues to lead that series with Glaser, winner of the prior three series championships, is in second 30 points back. The I-5 series concludes with a  two-night race Friday and Saturday at Medford's Southern Oregon Speedway.

In Saturday's A-Main, outside polesitter Boyd took the initial lead and checked out on the field, building a straightaway advantage in front of Cody Sell by the fourth lap. The field started to close on Boyd and was bunched up when the car of John Campos died coming out of turn two on the 14th lap.

Swayngim made his way by Sell for second on the 16th lap and three laps later went to the low side of the 1/3-mile clay oval to get past Boyd for the lead, and Glaser soon followed up to second. For the final 27 laps, Glaser tried everything he could to get past Swayngim, but made no headway and settled for second.

Mike Miller of Springfield, driving a Rick Wyatt car because his was wrecked hard at the I-5 race in Elma, Wash., the week before, came forward from the 16th starting position to place third after setting fast time. Boyd finished fourth with brother Randy Boyd of Lebanon in fifth.

Anthony Hopper won the Outlaw B-Main event by leading all 30 laps from the pole position. Brett McCutcheon came from the 10th starting position to finish second and Ron Shinkle of Dallas placed third with Doug Mott in fourth and Rob Campos in fifth.

Tom Pitts of Lebanon won the Outlaw C-Main event in front of Chance Haman and Randy Barley.

Rob Mayea had already sewed up his third straight Modified championship at the track, but gave the fans on hand a show anyway.

Starting 13th, Mayea sliced his way through the field, passed Kenny Miller for the lead on the 10th lap then checked out on the field for his 10th class win this season.

Miller finished second with Doug Davenport in third. Dave Burns won the modified B-Main event.

In the Super Sport class, Russ Sell also had the championship taken care of coming into the race, but didn't give up.

Sell, after setting fast time in the class, came from the 14th starting spot to pass Rick Wyatt of Salem on the 17th lap and set sail for his eighth class victory of the season.

Wyatt finished second with Brett James in third. Keith Marson won the Super Sport B-Main with Darryl Blanchard in second.

The Sportsman class was the only in which the points championship had yet to be determined heading into Saturday's racing, but Mike Bennett of Estacada unofficially clinched the championship with an eighth-place result.

In the A-Main, polesitter Bill Gibbs of Canby led every lap to win the race, and teammate Jeff Marson of Molalla came forward from fifth to place second. Jason Sommer placed third.

Todd Miller won the Sportsman B-Main with Casey Rhoades in second.
In the Sportsman C-Main event, Robert Mercel of Springfield took the lead with two laps to go and went on to win his first race in his third night of racing.

Bob Kingsberry already had earned the Classic Sportsman championship, but was beat out in the main event by Rick Speer and Kevin Roberts.
