CORONA, Calif. (September 17) - Dino Napier had a strong weekend at Santa Maria Speedway last Saturday, September 13th.

The team was limited to an open trailer and a pickup truck, but that didn't keep them from making a top three run.

The night began with qualifying on the 1/3-mile tacky clay oval. Dino was first out, and managed a time fast enough to hold on to fourth fast in the fifteen-car field.

The Late Models were split into three heat races with five cars in each. The line up put Napier on the front row of the first heat, outside of fast qualifier, Nick Bartels. At the drop of the green flag, Dino drove his #5x Victory Circle Chassis into an early lead. Napier remained in the lead throughout the eight-lap heat race to bring home the first heat race of the night.

After all heats were completed, the fast qualifier, N. Bartels, drew an invert three pill which inverted the top three finishers out of the three heat races combined, which placed heat three winner, Steve Drake, on the pole, followed by Billy Griffin, and Dino Napier.

When the green flag flew, Steve Drake was first into turn one, followed by a close battling Griffin and Napier. By lap two, Napier had passed Griffin for second, and had his sights set on the leader. About lap five, Napier fell back to fourth, behind Devin Crockett. About Mid-race, the track fell under caution for Crockett as he spun in turn four. The caution allowed Napier to regain third. The Checkers flew as Drake lead the pack to the finish line, followed by Billy Griffin, Dino Napier, Nick Bartels, and Devin Crockett rounded out the top five.

Napier Racing will have the usual truck and trailer back for next Saturday, September 20th, when the team heads to Bakersfield Speedway for $2,000 to win!

Napier Racing is seeking sponsors to cover expenses for the upcoming double-header weekends in Tuscan, Arizona on November 1st-2nd at USA Raceway and Phoenix, Arizona on November 14th-15th at Manzanita Raceway.
