MARLAR TAKES 4TH 44 AUTO MART SUPER LATE MODEL FEATURE AT BLUEGRASS SPEEDWAY

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (August 30) - Bluegrass Speedway hosted its 4th Annual Legends Night event that honored some of the former racers from around the area and also presented racing action on Saturday evening. Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would drive to his fourth 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature win, with Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY racing to his fifth Kentucky Cooperage Modified victory. Roger Cecil of Bardstown, KY would pick up his fourth WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman feature win of the season, while Willie Edelen of Bardstown, KY would score his third Street Stock feature win for the '08 season.

Mike Marlar would take the lead at the drop of the green flag in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature action, with Rick Combs, Dustin Neat, Jeff Watson, and Jordan Bland running second through fifth after the first lap. Neat would take second on lap 2, with Bland coming to third on the same circuit, and James Huff going to fifth. Marlar would begin working traffic by lap 6, while Bland challenged Neat for second. By lap 10, Marlar had stretched his lead on out, with three lapped cars between himself and the battle for second. Watson would slow on the backchute to bring out the caution on lap 11, pull pitside, only to return. The race would go one more lap before Doodle Farris and Jacob Webber would be involved in an incident in the center of turns three and four, ending both drivers night. The attempted restart would also come back as seventh place running Bill Blair, Jr. would make contact with the retaining wall in turn two, ending his evening. Back underway, Marlar would still hold the point, while Combs would drive past Bland for the third position. Jason Keltner would then challenge James Huff for the fifth spot and would make his way into the top five on lap 15 for the fifth spot. By lap 20, Marlar would pull away even more from the field, while Bland would challenge Combs for the third slot. Lap 22 would see Bland grab the third position from Combs and attempt to run down Neat for the runner-up spot. But at the drop of the checkered flag, it would be Marlar taking the win aboard the Steve Estes owned, K&G Trucking/PBM Performance Products/Dyer's Top Rods/Bayea/K&N Engineering/Sweet Manufacturing/ Hoosier Tire/VP Racing Fuel/Wayne Bowen Racing Supply/Peterson Fluid Systems/ Braswell Carburetion sponsored #78 C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, Estes Race Engines powered machine. The remainder of the top five would be Neat, Bland, Combs, Keltner. Completing the top ten were Lee Devasier, Huff, Bryant Woodcock, Kevin Colston, and Gary Yeager. Bland was top qualifier, while Watson won the dash, and Bill Blair, Jr. won the heat.
