SANTA MARIA, Calif. (August 29) - .The Labor Day weekend Sunday night special 15th Annual Danny Simkins Memorial is an all stock car show featuring Super Late Model Stocks, the Fox 11 First at Ten East vs. West Super Street Shootout, Factory Stocks and Mini Stocks.

San Luis Obispo's Steve Drake leads the Super Late Model championship at SMS with Arroyo Grande's Devin Crockett second, 44 points out of first, and Buena Park's Billy Griffin third, 79 points behind. David Childress (-98), of Bakersfield, and Anthony Barket (-102), of Templeton, are fourth and fifth.

The East vs. West title chase looks like a battle between Bakersfield drivers Darrel Hood and Robby Sawyer, and Santa Maria's Tim Randolph. Hood leads the parade by 9 points over Randolph and by 45 over Sawyer. Toby Randolph (-91), of Santa Maria, and Nick Sylvester (-99), of Bakersfield, are in the next two spots. Two Super Street races, September 13 and September 27, remain in the 2008 season to decide the Shootout championship. Both events are at Santa Maria Speedway.

Kirk Morgan's win over second in points Michael Frazier last weekend extended the margin between first and second to 28 points in the race for the Factory Stock crown. Third place Tim Bennett is still in the hunt, 81 markers behind. The three front runners are all from Santa Maria. Arroyo Grande's Kevin Linson (-86) and Santa Maria's Glen Sparks (-92) remain in contention.

The Mini Stock championship is looking like a two-way battle between Arroyo Grande's Justin Crockett and Nipomo's Justin Marsh. Eight points separate the two drivers with four races to go. Third place Daylan Coffey, of Santa Maria, is 104 points behind. Nipomo's Jeremy Heroux (-110) and Santa Barbara's Ben Caswell (-122) are next in the standings.

Gates for Sunday night's show will open at 3:00 p.m., with racing at 6:00 p.m. Admission prices will be $20.00 for adults, $16.00 for seniors (65+), and $5.00 for children six to twelve. Kids five and under are admitted free. Credit cards are not accepted.
